The Sign Consumption Of Architecture Form

From the reformation in the beginning of the 80's, the matter has been increasingly abundant in the cities of China. The proliferating of matter also arise the change of relationship between matter and human being; all these have deeply influence on the form of society culture of the time. In this context, the architecture practice became a kind of massive production activity gradually, and the form factor of architecture also became more important than before. With the embedding of mass consumption culture in China, the architecture, the form of architecture, the method of form production, the society status of architects, the society status of architecture consumer and the society function of architecture form etc, have had many new characters completely different from that of the past. There is much different between these characters and the architecture conceptions from our childhood, father and history, and these characters have exerted a subtle influence on today's visage of our cities, impacted and enlarged the scope of architecture field. But all these cannot indicate that traditional standards of aesthetics and valuation is not longer applicable, moreover, they must be explained and adjusted to adapting today's consumption society.From the realism of Chinese architecture, this article tries to make my own analyses, explanations and estimations on the influence which the consumption culture of the mass have brought to architecture basing on the inhering knowledge and sensibility:a) This article will collected the architecture form from the beginning of the economy system reformation, and analyze the change with the method of discourse analyzing.b) Basing on the conclusion of above step, this article will also discuss the new characters and expression methods of the architecture form in the context of consumption culture, and then will analyze the transformation of the architecture production, consumption and society function correspondingto the above change.c) Then this article will summarize the new method of criticism and valuation in today's architecture, and find the benefit and the disadvantage which consumption culture has brought to the architecture of China.Basing on above study this article will draw the conclusions below:a) With the impulsion of consumption culture, today, a kind of diversity, opening and tolerant system has come into being in Chinese architecture field; the relationship between the production and consumption of architecture is a kind of communicated and mutual mode. All these have done harm to architecture as the same time it has brought much new visual angle and resource for representation.b) Although in consumption culture the architecture criticism is a kind of mass taste criticism, and the valuation of architecture also appears to be commerce value, however in this frame architecture can also possess its own profound content and art value, all these lies on the attitude and the practice method of the architecture productor.c) The architecture problems in consumption society also comprise the question of application, economy and aesthetics, but the symbol meaning of become the main force in architecture market; in the contemporary era, the many abuse in architecture is not because of the overflow of architecture form, but because the replication of the architecture meaning, so walking up to a kind of architecture in which the meaning cannot be replicated is the duty of today's architects in China.
