The Originality Of Architecture And The Update Of Concept

Architects of different countries always think about some special questions in their own environment. It also seems worth thinking that even though we live in China which has the largest quantity of construction in the world, we haven't seen any matching original work getting on the world architecture arena.The works which were and are still alive on the world architecture arena don't have uniform standard, but they share something in common that is unique originality by which those works provide the world with a new anticipation and new route to enrich human beings'imagination and accumulate the complexity of history.Making a general survey of present world architecture design situation, we can see behind the contention of various architecture schools there exist the contentions of market and right to speak. Only those architecture designs with originality can obtain the right to speak in present evaluation system. In current society, the originality of architecture design is not an academic problem but a problem of the right to speak in the world architecture arena. The originality of Chinese architecture will finally decide status of work division in the world architecture design, overall competition and how many shares we can take in the world market. So it is significant to research on related theories of architecture's originality, which will have a profound effect on Chinese architecture design.Originality is not only concerning with image design. In fact, our extant habitual thinking of form-standard is exactly one of the important reasons why architecture design doesn't seek deep understanding. The view of this dissertation is to oppose the design thought of form-standard and to advocate the design thought of concept-standard which means the thinking mode will center on concept, what is emphasized is ideas relation instead of form relation, and the design of tangible object will be transformed to the expression of intangible object. The above thought which is exactly the source of information society and intangible assets also is a design thought conforming to present social tendency.And this dissertation discusses the reasonability, feasibility and era features of the viewpoint mentioned above, shows the certain relation between architecture originality and concept update, and points out the new way to seek the source of concept update and the way to realize it. We hope this endeavor will help people understand the key of design and make further research so as to finally form a design methodology proceeded from and centered on concept.
