Traffic accident is a worldwide public hazard. It results from the incorporation among human factors, vehicles, roadway and environment. Conventional geometry design generally bases its method on theorems of dynamic mechanics while ignoring the diversity of human factors. With the support of methodology and approaches pertaining to medicine, psychology and physiology, this research explores the correlation among speed, roadway alignment, environment and physiological and psychological element of driving behaviors on the basis of abundant data obtained from field study, which lays the foundation for further analysis of what represents a comfortable and safe situation and for the calibration of threshold value of coefficient of transverse force. This research defines heart rate and breathing rate as indices of intension of driver, rural two-lane highway as subject of study. By digesting the fluctuations of heart rate of drivers through partial corelation analysis, this paper accomplishs a model characterizing the correlation between horizontal (vertical) alignment and psychological, physiological index. The model developed previously is used in calibrating the threshold value of both comfort level and convenience index of roadway alignment, and in developing safety analysis model for some existing black spots.Through systematic incorporation of various psychological and physiological equipments, this paper finds out: 1) available experiment equipments and their adaptive range, which represents the groundwork for asserting distinct analytical method for roadway design; 2) the classification of data though fuzzy clustering based on speed consistency; 3) the correlation between drivers'psychology activities and their heart rates (in this case, through qualitative analysis, the research verifies heart rates as an typical indication of the driving behavior); 4) the correlation between roadway alignment and fluctuation of heart rates; and the issuing of preliminary threshold value of level of intension of driver (through quantitative spectrum...
