The progress and application of distributed multimedia computing is now applying computers to every where of our life with broader perspective, and meanwhile there emerge a greact technical challenge. DMS (DMS: Distributed Multimedia System) modeling is a foundation issue as many new features, such as synchronization, interactive mode, distributed information and cooperation. In this dissertation, the structure of Agent-based distributed multimedia system and cooperation multimedia application is more studied according to Agent-based cooperation shared objects and distributed information. The researched key issues in the dissertation are Agent and MAgent technology are introduced in DMS. In order to overcome the disadvantage of distributed computer system in distributed multimedia mode and spatial information service in water conservancy, some technology schemes, using Agent and MAgent, are presented for applying digital water conservancy and practical application more preferably. The main contributions of this research include:1) In order to overcome the disadvantage of distributed computer mode in distributed multimedia system, it is introduced to DMS by Agent technology originated from Artificial Intelligence. An Agent-based system model of distributed multimedia system(ADMS) is presented in this dissertation, and its concepts, composition and architecture of corresponding DMS model are given. Meanwhile, an Agent-based Image Geospatial Structure (AIGS) is described by defining a series of Agents, communication language I-XML for supporting cooperation and reuse and sharing information among users expediently.2) Based on Agent and MAgent, the concept of information services is introduced. Following this, a general DMS model has been designed. At last, several Agent-based cooperation information services have been implemented.3) Several potential application models of MAgent-based cooperation information services, especially the Web services based application model, are analyzed.4) Based on Web services flow language and Java, the dissertation designs and implements a MAgent-based Cooperative Multimedia Component(MCMC), which is used to parse and execute Web services flow. Furthermore, a corresponding cooperation architecture of Agent has been designed.5) The MAgent-based cooperative information services and integrative pattern for Web services are studied, which can provide new solutions to the interoperability of cooperative information processing.6) Using MCMC, an Agent-based DMS application system is researched. As an example, a distributed multimedia information service system for flood prevention is designed and implemented, and corresponding architecture is given in this dissertation.
