Slab-and-beam raft foundation is a kind of raft foundation, and it is widely used in multi-story buildings, high-rise buildings and their skirt buildings. So how to correctly designing this kind of foundation is a heated problem, which should be solved for practical engineering. Based on simulated test, this paper discusses the interaction of soil and single-span and multi-span slab-and-beam raft foundations that are composed of the same height beams and different thickness slabs. Both the deformation and contact pressure of raft foundation have been measured. By the simulated test, the different deformation and contact pressure characteristic of slab-and-beam raft foundation under lower and higher loads have been found independently, furthermore the simplified contact pressure distribution is given. The punching calculation method is brought forward according to the punching failure of test specimen. In addition, a finite-element-method software has been made, and it has been used to analyze numerically the interaction of slab-and-beam foundation with the subsoil. The numerical value to be solved almost coincides with the test for the beam sections. But for the slab sections the numerical value does not coincide well with the test, further research should be done to solve this problem.
