Studies On The Taxonomy And The Taxonomic Information System Of Coniopterygidae From China

This present paper is a dissertation submitted to Graduate School of the China Agricultural University for the degree of Doctor. It includes two sections as follows:Section One. Taxonomic study on the family Coniopterygidae from China. In this section, the historical notes, systematic position and classification systems, morphology, biology and economic importance about Coniopterygidae are reviewed. 11 genera and 79 species in two subfamilies of Coniopterygidae from China are recorded including 5 new synonyms, 24 species new to science, 1 genus and 4 species first reported from China. The new species are: Aleuropteryx sinica Liu et Yang sp. nov., Heteroconis electrina Liu et Yang sp. nov., Heteroconis hainanica Liu et Yang sp. nov., Heteroconis tricornis Liu et Yang sp. nov., Heteroconis unicornis Liu et Yang sp. nov., Coniocompsa elegansis Liu et Yang sp. nov., Coniocompsa polymaculata Liu et Yang sp. nov., Coniocompsa spectabilis Liu et Yang sp. nov., Coniocompsa Hi Liu et Yang sp. nov., Coniocompsa chuanguiana Liu et Yang sp. nov., Coniopteryx (Xeroconipteryx) qiongana Liu et Yang, 2002, Coniopteryx (Coniopteryx) macrocheira Yang et Liu sp. nov., Coniopteryx. (Coniopteryx )longispina Yang et Liu sp. nov., Coniopteryx (Coniopteryx) perpendiculara Yang et Liu sp. nov., Coniopteryx (Coniopteryx) tengchongana Yang et Liu sp. nov., Coniopteryx (Coniopteryx) curvata Yang et Liu sp. nov., Coniopteryx (Coniopteryx) pubilimba Yang et Liu sp. nov., Coniopteryx (Coniopteryx) bifurcata Yang et Liu sp. nov., Coniopteryx (Coniopteryx) serrulata Yang et Liu sp. nov., Coniopteryx (Coniopteryx) tibetana Yang et Liu sp. nov., Semidalis prorecta Yang et Liu sp. nov., Semidalis shilinica Yang et Liu, Semidalis tibetica Yang et Liu sp. nov. and Semidalis ypsilon Liu et Yang sp. nov.. The keys are constructed down to specific level. The male genitalia of all the species are drawn whenever possible. A preliminary analysis about the distribution of Chinese coniopterygids is given. The world's and Chinese Coniopterygidae species lists are provided.Section Two. Development of taxonomic information system of Coniopterygidae from China. This taxonomic information system is programmed by Delphi 5.0, a kind of visual programming software under the strategy of Object Oriented Programming (OOP). It consists of three models: Model 1 .Query about General information of Coniopterygidae, Model 2. Query about Information of genus and species from China and Model 3. Assistant identification system about Chinese Coniopterygidae. It is interactive and has a user-friendly interface. So, it is a good tool to those who want to know about or want to identify specimens of Chinese Coniopterygidae.
