| Objective To explore the distribution and sensitization characteristics of Artemisia pollen in the central cities and rural areas of Inner Mongolia,optimize the allergen battery according to the sensitization ability of allergic rhinitis(AR)patients in the study area,and identify the least optimal allergen battery that can screen out more than 95% of sensitized people.Methods From March to October 2019,suspected AR prickles were screened for diagnosis by Skin prickle test(SPT)in three central cities and rural areas of Inner Mongolia using an epidemiological method combined multi-stage stratified random sampling and face-to-face questionnaire.The prickle battery of local aspiration allergen was obtained.The most economical battery of allergens was optimized according to their sensitizing ability.The daily pollen concentration was monitored in three areas at the same time to analyze the distribution and clinical sensitization characteristics of Artemisia pollens.Results Among 6393 subjects,1093 cases were diagnosed with AR.SPT results showed that the positive rate of Artemisia annua was the highest(80.15%),and the positive rate increased from east to west.The positive rate of most allergens in females was higher than that in males.Artemisia pollen type induction AR(pollen-induced Allergic Rhinitis Pi AR)prevalence was 10.97%(701/6393);The most common age was 30-39 years old,accounting for 28.82%(202/701).The diagnosed prevalence was higher in females than in males(11.35% vs 10.64%,P<0.001).The prevalence rate of ethnic minority was higher than that of Han(13.01% vs 10.65%,P<0.05).The prevalence rate in cities areas was significantly higher than that in rural areas(18.40% vs 5.50%,P< 0.001).The prevalence rate in the three regions of Inner Mongolia was significantly different(6.06% in Chifeng,13.46% in Hohhot and16.39% in Ordos,P< 0.001).The main clinical symptoms of Artemisia Pi AR were sneeze(95.58%),nasal congestion(91.73%)and nasal itching(89.30%).Among the diseases associated with Artemisia Pi AR,79.60%(558/701)were allergic conjunctivitis,55.63%(390/701)were chronic sinusitis,23.25%(163/701)were asthma.The distribution period of Artemisia pollen in the three regions was from June to October,and it showed a peak in August in summer.The peak time of clinical symptoms in Artemisia Pi AR patients was about 2 weeks earlier than the peak time of pollen concentration,and there was a significant positive correlation between the two(R=0.7671,P<0.001).Seven allergens(Artemisia annua,chenopodium ash,birch,dust mite,humulus scandens,cat hair and dog hair)could be used to screen more than95% of the sensitized population in this area.Conclusion Artemisia pollens,as the dominant pollens in late summer and early autumn in Inner Mongolia,are the most common inhalation allergens.Compared with non-artemisia pollen-induced AR patients,artemisia pollen-induced AR patients showed statistically significant differences in age distribution,gender,ethnic and regional distribution.The peak time of clinical symptoms in patients with Artemisia pollen-induced rhinitis was about 2 weeks earlier than the peak time of pollen concentration,and the frequency of clinical symptoms in patients with artemisia pollen-induced AR showed a strong positive correlation with artemisia pollen concentration.The optimal combination of 7 allergens can be used to detect ≥95% of the sensitized population in this area. |
