Objective: This study aimed to observe the clinical efficacy and safety of modified Shengyang Chushi Fangfeng decoction in the treatment of diarrhea-type irritable bowel syndrome(IBS-D)(spleen deficiency and dampness excess syndrome),and to provide a useful clinical reference for the identification and treatment of this disease. Methods: In this study,72 patients diagnosed with IBS-D(spleen deficiency and damp obstruction type)in the Department of Spleen and Stomach Diseases of Yunnan Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2022 to December 2022 were selected and randomly divided into control group and treatment group. The two groups were given pinaverium bromide tablets and modified Shengyang Chushi Fangfeng decoction, respectively. The two groups were treated for 4 weeks. Before and after treatment, the TCM symptom score, the total score of IBS-SSS,the total score of IBS-QOL and the adverse reactions of the two groups were recorded, and the final results were analyzed.Results:1.A total of 72 IBS-D patients were included in this project, and 67 patients actually completed the entire research process, including 33 cases in the control group and 3 cases with a dropout rate, with a dropout rate of 9.09%,and 34 cases in the treatment group,2cases with a dropout rate of 5.88%.2.Overall efficacy analysis: After treatment, the total effective rate of treatment group was 88.24% better than that of control group of 78.79%.The difference was statistically significant(P<0.01)3.Comparison of total TCM syndrome scores: After treatment, the total score of TCM syndrome in both groups was improved compared with that before treatment, and the intergroup treatment group was better than the control group(P < 0.05).4.Comparison of single TCM symptom scores: Two groups of patients after treatment in the stool frequency, stool characteristics, fatigue and drowsiness,cold-food fear, and loss of appetite have different efficacy, but there were no significant differences in abdominal pain and abdominal distension(P > 0.05).5.Comparison of the score of IBS-SSS: After treatment, the symptom severity of the two groups was lower than that before treatment(P < 0.001),and the treatment group was better than the control group(P < 0.05).6.Comparison of the score of IBS-QOL: After treatment, the quality of life of two groups was significantly improved(P<0.001),and treatment group was better than control group(P < 0.001).7.Safety comparison: No significant abnormality was found in the safety indexes of the two groups before and after treatment. Conclusion: Modified Shengyang Chushi Fangfeng decoction has the effects of increasing Yang, invigorating spleen, removing dampness and antidiarrheal. The clinical efficacy of IBS-D(spleen deficiency and dampness excess syndrome)is reliable, and its overall efficacy is better than that of Pinaverium Bromide tablets, which can significantly alleviate the patient’s stool frequency, stool characteristics, fatigue and drowsiness,cold-food fear, and loss of appetite and other symptoms;reduce the severity of the patient’s condition, improve the patient’s living standard, have good safety, and are worthy of clinical promotion.
