Objectives:1.To investigate the current situation of subjective well-being of junior nurses in tertiary hospitals in Wuxi,Jiangsu Province.2.To analysis of the factors influencing subjective well-being of junior nurses in tertiary hospitals.Content and Methods:The study is divided into two parts as follows.Part Ⅰ:A quantitative study of the current state of subjective well-being of low-ranking nurses.A convenience sampling method was used to select 691 nurses who had worked for≤5 years in tertiary hospitals in Wuxi,Jiangsu Province, and subjective well-being and other information were collected through a questionnaire. The survey included:1)Dependent variables:General Well-Being Schedule(GWB);2)Possible influencing factors:general demographic information(self-designed),Nurses Professional Values Scale-Revised(NPVS-R),Fatigue Scale(FS-14),and Psychological Reward Satisfaction Scale(PRe SS).Descriptive statistics, multicategorical regression analysis, and latent profile analysis were used to describe the level of subjective well-being of low-ranking nurses and to explore the factors influencing their subjective well-being.Part Ⅱ:A qualitative study of junior nurses with different types of potential subjective well-beingBased on the findings of the first stage and the potential profile analysis,a total of 25 junior nurses of three types were interviewed by purposive sampling to gain further insight into the level and characteristics of subjective well-being of junior nurses.Results:1.The current status of subjective well-being level of junior nurses. The median subjective well-being of junior nurses was 75(67,84),and the median of each dimension was 7(6,9)for concern about health,17(14,20)for energy,13(11,15)for control of emotions and behavior,6(5,7)for satisfaction and interest in life,15(13,18)for melancholy or pleasant state of mind, and 16(14,19)for relaxation and tension.2.Factors influencing the level of subjective well-being of junior nurses.(1)Analysis of differences in demographic variables:there were statistical differences between the levels of subjective well-being of nurses with low seniority on the variables of childbirth status, residence status, level of hospital, title, length and intensity of work, number of night shifts, job satisfaction, family support, number of exercises per week, experience of negative events, and change in professional attitudes after fighting theepidemic(P<0.05).(2)Logistic regression analysis showed that nurses’ professional values, psychological reward satisfaction and subjective well-being were significantly positively correlated(P<0.001);Fatigue was significantly negatively correlated with subjective well-being(P<0.001).After adjusting for confounders, each 1-point increase in nurses professional values increased the likelihood of higher subjective well-being for junior nurses by 4%;each 1-point decrease in fatigue increased the likelihood of higher subjective well-being for junior nurses by 34%;and each 1-point increase in mental pay satisfaction increased the likelihood of higher subjective well-being for junior nurses by 12%.Conclusions:1.The study found that the subjective well-being of junior nurses was at a medium to high level, but there was still room for improvement.2.The two research methods used in this study can better validate each other’s factors influencing subjective well-being of junior nurses.Nurses’ professional values and spiritual pay satisfaction positively influenced their subjective well-being,and fatigue had a negative effect on their subjective well-being.3.It is suggested that nursing managers should care more about the psychological situation of junior nurses in their usual work and life, and can intervene in controllable factors according to their demographic characteristics differences, and positively motivate and guide them to establish the correct professional values.Their subjective well-being can be improved by improving the software and hardware environment and facilities, reducing their work pressure and fatigue, attaching importance to spiritual motivation, providing development platforms, and enhancing their professional identity.
