ObjectiveTo research clinical effect of knee Osteoarthritis with the combination of Jin’s 3-knee needle and Thai Herbal compress ball,in order to reduce the pain caused by knee osteoarthritis and uplift elderly quality of live to the new clinical idea and exploring new methods of cognition and treatment plan for the knee Osteoarthritis treatment.MethodsCollecting patient’s data from 1st February until 31th July 2019 in The Department of Acupuncture outpatient at Dontum Hospital,Nakhonprathom province,Thailand.This research contained with the sample of 90 patients’cases in total.The patients were randomly divided into three groups:①Jin’s 3-knee needle group for 30 cases,is the patients received acupuncture Jin’s 3-knee needle technique(acupoint based:EX-LE4,EX-LE5,SP-10,ST-34);Syndrome of the both deficiency the Liver and Kidney,tendon blood circulation stagnation with GB-34 acupoint;Syndrome of the both deficiency the Spleen and Kidney,dampness infusion into bone and joint with SP-6 acupoint and SP-9 acupoint;Syndrome of the both deficiency the Liver and Kidney,dampness and blood circulation stagnation with GB-34 acupoint and ST-40 acupoint.②Thai Herbal compress ball group for 30 cases,the patients received Thai compress massage ball technique,Thai herbal compress balls were prepared by the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences,Faculty of Pharmacy,Chiang Mai University,Thailand.Each herbal compress ball weighed 200 g and contained dried herbs including Zingiber cassumunar Roxb.rhizomes(40%),Curcuma longa L.rhizomes(10%),Cymbopogon citratus(DC.)Stapf leaves and leaf sheaths(10%),Croton roxburghii N.P.Balakr.leaves(10%),Tamarindus indica L.leaves(10%),Citrus hystrix DC.peels(5%),Blumea balsamifera(L.)DC.leaves(5%),Vitex trifolia L.leaves(5%),and camphor(5%).Gently and slowly place the ball on the affected part of the body(The affected part of the lateral lower limb;the affected part of the medial lower limb;the affected part of the knee joint).③ Jin’s 3-knee needle combined with Thai Herbal compress ball group 30 cases.The patient received combined technique treatments.The First,the patients received Thai herbal compress ball therapy,the patient to rest for 15 minutes,and then received Jin’s 3-knee needle therapy of acupuncture.All patients received Acupuncture and Thai compress massage ball six sessions for two course(3 sessions per week for each course).The measurements were performed at first visit and 2 weeks after treatment.The efficacy measurement were Visual Analogue Scale(VAS scale)and The Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index(WOMAC Index scale).The statistic used for analyzing data were performed using IBM SPSS 24.0 software:The general patients were tested by Pearson Chi-square test and One-Way ANOVA analysis.Three groups before and after treatment:The data were in accordance with non-normal distribution analysis by Wilcoxon signed ranks test with Median(P25,P75).The curative effect was evaluated by Pearson Chi-square test.The three groups were compared by Kruskal Wallis H test,and the three groups were compared by Mann-Whitney U test after treatment.The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Results1.In this research contained with the sample of 90 patients with knee osteoarthritis showed that there were women more than men(women 51:men 39),the lowest age was 40 years old,the highest age was 80 years old,and the average age was 59 years old.2.After treatment,WOMAC Index scale of Osteoarthritis can be classified in three groups:There was significant difference in the total score of WOMAC scale among the three groups(P<0.05).The degree of stiffness and joint dysfunction after treatment in Jin’s 3-knee needle group and Thai Herbal compress ball group were no significant difference(P>0.05).The degree of pain after treatment in Jin’s 3-knee needle group and Jin’s 3-knee combined with Thai Herbal compress ball group were no significant difference(P>0.05).However,the total score of pain,stiffness and joint dysfunction after treatment effects were more effective in Jin’s 3-knee needle combined with Thai Herbal compress ball group than in two groups were significant difference(P<0.05).3.After treatment,VAS scale in the three groups:The total of VAS score in the three group,for each group,the treatment afterwards were better than the before treatment was significant difference(P<0.05).The total score of Vas scale among Jin’s 3-knee needle group and Thai Herbal compress ball group was no significant difference(P>0.05).But Jin’s 3-knee needle combined with Thai Herbal compress ball group were better than in two group that were significant difference(P<0.05).4.Clinical symptoms effective VAS score:Jin’s 3-knee needle combined with Thai Herbal compress ball group have cure rate is 60.00%,apparent rate is 30.00%,effective rate is 10.00%.Jin’s 3-knee needle group have cure rate is 26.70%,apparent rate is 36.70%,effective rate is 36.70%。Thai Herbal compress ball group have cure rate is 13.30%,apparent rate is 23.30%,effective rate is 60.00%,ineffective rate is 3.30%ConclusionJin’s 3-knee needle combined with Thai Herbal compress ball able to remedy knee Osteoarthritis.It being the fact that this treatment can nourish Qi and stimulate blood circulation which allows the muscles and joints to relax,restrain the muscle strength.This research considers that the combination of these two treatments is the best method and the most feasible way to relieves knee pain and joint stiffness symptoms,that leads to the elevated livelihoods of the patients who having knee Osteoarthritis.
