| Objective By investigating the needs and satisfaction of the main caregivers of stroke patients in different stages of discharge transition period,we analyzed the dynamic changes and related factors of demands, and provided theoretical basis for the follow-up intervention. Methods Convenient sampling method was used to investigate the self-care ability of stroke patients, care needs and demand satisfaction of the main caregivers at three different time points during discharge transition period.Statistical description of the survey results was made by means and standard deviation,frequencypercentage,chart,etc..inferential statistics were made by variance analysis of repeated measurements on the self-care ability of patients at different survey nodes, the needs of caregivers and the satisfaction of the needs of caregivers;Univariate analysis of variance and multiple linear regression were used to compare the differences of supportive care needs among subjects with different characteristics, and todiscuss the influencing factors of supportive care needs. Results 1.The main caregivers of stroke patients had different needs at different time points during discharge: total needs before discharge(11.82±4.46),2 weeks after discharge(10.26±4.62),and 4 weeks after discharge(7.29±4.98).F = 66.388,the difference is statistically significant(P < 0.05).2.The satisfaction degree of the main caregivers of stroke patients at different time points during the discharge transit period is different: before discharge(79.67±8.94),2 weeks after discharge(81.30±9.42),4 weeks after discharge(85.17±9.60),F =37.198,the difference is statistically significant(P < 0.05).3.The results of single factor analysis showed that self-care ability, age, number of strokes, relationship between caregivers and patients, age of caregivers, average length of daily care,co-caregivers and paid caregivers, and average monthly income of families were the factors influencing the dimension or total needs of caregivers during the transition period of discharge.4.Multivariate regression analysis showed that the factors affecting caregivers’ needs were different in different stages of care. Before discharge, the main factors were paid personnel, stroke frequency and stroke type;2 weeks after discharge, the main factors were paid personnel, average daily care time, stroke frequency and relationship with patients;4 weeks after discharge, the main factors were stroke frequency, relationship with patients, average daily care time, monthly income of paid personnel and families. Conclusions 1 At different stages of the transition period, the needs and satisfaction of the main caregivers are different, and the needs of the caregivers before discharge are the strongest and the needs are met to the lowest exten. Two weeks after discharge, the emotional support needs were the highest and the satisfaction degree was the lowest.2.Two weeks after discharge is the most urgent stage for caregivers’ demands for care-related information, such as "disease development, diagnosis and complications","emergency treatment and symptom monitoring" and "medical equipment consultation".3.At different stages of discharge transition, the main factors affecting the needs of caregivers are not completely the same 4.The intervention measures for the needs of caregivers should be developed in combination with the needs of the corresponding stage, the degree of demand satisfaction and the main influencing factors. |
