Background:Empathy is seen as a necessary component of any form of therapeutic relationship and is particularly important for the quality of care. For people in the service industry, empathy directly affects the quality of service.Throughout foreign studies, empathy plays an inportant role in clinical nursing:enhancing nurse-patient relationship, improving patients'satisfaction with nursing work, reducing the incidence of unpleasant events and complaints between nurses and patients.Meanwhile,China's medical and health system reform and industrial restructuring have also put forward new tasks for higher vocational nursing education.ObjectivesOn the basis of previous relevant research, this study explores the general empathy ability, clinical empathy ability and clinical communication ability of vocational nursing students and clinical nursing students in different teaching modes, quantitative research of questionnaire survey and qualitative research of interview. The level and influencing factors of empathy ability of nursing students in Higher Vocational Colleges under different teaching modes were discussed in order to arouse the attention of educators to the training mode of nursing students.Combining with the current training situation and the characteristics of nursing students themselves, the Cultivation Strategies of empathy ability of nursing students were put forward to provide practical basis for training high-quality nursing talents in Higher Vocational colleges.Methods:(1)A cluster sampling method was used to investigate the general data, general empatiby ability, clinical empathy ability and clinical communication ability of four classes of nursing students in Jiangsu Medical Vocational College from 2015 to 2016.(2)Nursing students of 4 classes were randomly divided into experimental group and control group. The experimental group adopted the "1+1+1" teaching mode of cooperation between colleges and universities. The control group adopted the traditional "2+1" teaching mode. The general information questionnaire and the Chinese version of Jefferson Empathy Scale(JSPE)were used to investigate the nursing students.Descriptive statistics, paired t-test5 one-way ANOVAs multiple stepwise linear regression and other statistical methods were used to analyze the empathy ability of higher vocational nursing students under different teaching modesResults:(1)There was no difference in the scores of empathy ability between the two gro ups before the intervention. After the intervention of different teaching modes, the em pathy ability of the nursing students who adopted the cooperative "1+1+1"teaching modewas 87.26±5.15.Using the traditional "2+1" teaching mode, the empat hy ability of nursing students in school was 81.36±5.71.The scores of the two groups were significantly different(P<0.05).(2)There was no significant difference in the general data of nursing students(gender, age, educational background,Place of origin, only child, student cadre, education level of parents)between the two groups(P>0.05).The results of variance analysis showed that there was no significant difference in the total score and three dimension scores of the factors affecting the empathy ability of nursing students in a single group(P>0.05).There was significant difference in the total score and three dimension scores of the factors affecting the empathy ability of nursing students between the two groups(P<0.05,#P<0.05).(3)By comparing the total score of empathy, viewpoint selection, emotional nursing and transposition thinking,it was found that there was no significant difference in empathy ability between the two groups at the end of the first school year(P>0.05).(4)After the second year's teaching intervention, the total score of empathy, viewpoint selection, emotional nursing and transposition thinking of the two groups were compared. It was found that the total score and each dimension score of the observation group nurses were higher than those of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:The cooperative teaching mode "1+1+1”in colleges and universities can improve nursing students' empathy ability and is a teaching model worth popularizing and applying.
