Objective:To understand the four-year and three-year nursing students’empathy level and empathy score difference between them, to definite the relationship of empathy and general materials, to study the factors that effect the empathy score between the four-year and three-year nursing students, to further provide reference material for improving the relevant theories.Methods:A total of400four-year and three-year nursing students were selected to investigate by using convenience sampling method of one university,using the JSPE-NS scale,designed and translated by QiuZhiJun of ZhongShan university. EPQ.RSC scale (YiSenKe personality questionnaire short form scale Chinese edition) to survey and measure the empathy level and characteristics of graduate and college nusing students. Using frequency, percent, mean and standard deviation to descripe students’general materials,empathy score and characteristics.Using t-test, one-way ANOVA to analysize the factors that effect the empathy score.Using Pearsons correlation analysis to analysize the relationship between empathy and personality characteristics.Results:1.The total score of nurses’empathy is108.28±17.93;The score of four-year nursing students is108.11+17.85, The score of three-year nursing students is108.50+18.08;The empathy score of female is higher than male, the difference was statistically significant; The empathy score of three-year nursing students in grade one is higher than grade two, the difference was statistically significant;There are no significant difference in the rest of the demographic variable empathy score of nursing students.2. The score of adopting the other’point of view among nursing students is4.56±9.78on average,the emotional nursing dimension score is4.22±7.43on average,the perspective-taking dimension score is5.74±2.51on average.The scores of female in the three dimensions are all higher than that of male, the difference is statistically significant;Among the three-year nursing students, grade one scored higher than grade two, the difference is statistically significant, and there are no significant difference in the rest of the demographic variable in dimension scores of seeing the point of view.3. Introversion and extroversion is positively correlated with empathy scores; psychoticism, neurotic is negatively correlated with empathy scores;Hiding affection is not significantly associated with empathy score.Conclusion:The the four-year and three-year nursing students’general empathy level is a little lower;Gender and personality characteristics is the effect of the life overall empathy levels of factors;Different grades in the nursing students empathy scores have significant difference.Among them, the personality characteristics (psychoticism, Introversion and extroversion, nervous and hiding affection) is the main effect of empathy level.The higher the score of internal and external quality, the higher the level of empathy; the higher the score of neurotic and psychoticism, the lower empathy level;Hiding affection has no significant correlation with empathy level.
