BackgroundsWith the integration of the world economy and society, international exchanges become more frequent, there was a great challenge for nurses to provide patients from different culture backgrounds multi-culture nursing services. However, nursing education in China does not pay enough attention to this subject. In current nursing education, although nursing students have accepted the knowledge of the education system, but multicultural nursing knowledge and the corresponding quality of work is still very lacking. The level of multi-culture nursing in our country is quite far behind of international levels, and the outstanding issues is the lack of multi-culture knowledge and skills which has become the focus point that teaching reform of nursing education should not be overlooked.Objective1. Construction of multi-culture nursing teaching mode.2. Empirical research of multi-culture nursing teaching, exploring the reform of multi-culture nursing teaching to provide a scientific basis for it.3. By studying multi-culture nursing, make nursing students understand cultural differences and master the ability of cross-cultural communication and multi-culture nursing.Contents1. On the basis of previous studies, sample nursing students by survey research to know the knowledge about the multi-culture nursing of nursing students and make sure the necessity of carrying out this subject.2. Using documentation and some other methods, based on cross-cultural nursing theory, humanistic theory, constructivism theory and pyramid learning theory, with researching of articles and theories, collected teaching resources to write the tutorial of multi-culture nursing and construct the teaching mode.3. Regarding nursing students as the research object to start practical teaching with comparative study methods. Demonstrate the effects of this practice using our teaching mode by a one-group, pre-post test design.MethodsIn this research, we use a lot of scientific study method like documentation method, research method, compare study, consultation and so on.Results1. Cross-cultural sensitivity and multi-culture nursing knowledge of nursing students are in low level.According to the survey, the intercultural sensitivity of 200 nursing students exhibit a lower level with a 50% total qualified rate. It suggests that the intercultural sensitivity level of nursing students needs to be raised.2. Construction of multi-culture nursing teaching mode, providing a basis for nursing education reform.Based on the multi-culture nursing theory with other teaching theories, we constructed a multi-culture nursing teaching mode, which are quite effective and feasible, providing the teaching reform of nursing education with some experience and mode.3. The results of teaching practice suggests that this teaching mode can improve the cross-cultural sensitivity and the knowledge and skills of multi-culture nursing effectively.Comparing the results before intervention with after intervention, the students got a higher score of cross-cultural sensitivity (from 75.67±8.03 to 89.54±7.54) and the knowledge of multi-culture (from 94.47±10.86 to 115.21±11.02) with the existing of statistically significance (P<0.01). It shows a remarkable results of teaching reform that our research can effectively improve the knowledge and skills of nursing students.ConclusionThis research combined with the current situation of professional nursing curriculum development and the fact of the demand of multi-culture nursing talents, based on the ability of solving practical problems to construct a practice platform of multi-culture nursing education by enriching teaching contents and perfecting teaching methods. Carrying out teaching reform using our teaching mode. It promotes the cross-cultural sensitivity and skills of multi-culture nursing of these nursing students. Above all, this practice has been remarkable and provided a mode for the reform of nursing education, which have a great value both in practice and in the wide use.
