IC verification has become an important part of the IC chip design in these days when the scale of integrated circuits has been increasingly complex. The application of advanced verification methodology to guide the construction of the verification platform, can achieve more efficient verification as well as provide portable verification IP reuse so as to shorten the development time of veerification platform.This paper designs a functional verification platform for HDCP module of a HDMI chip,based on the most advanced UVM verification methodology. In the process of building the verification environment, it makes full use of built-in mechanism provided by UVM library,such as sequence, phase and port etc. And divides the verification platform into three parts:interface_uvc, module_uvc and testbench. According to the interface_uvc function to realize the stimulation input, output collection and registers configuration, it could be divided into Tx_if_uvc, Rx_if_uvc and Mcu_if_uvc; In module_uvc, a c-model introduced as a reference model to compare data with the HDCP encryption module; While testbench is used as the top-level module system, using HDCP_module_tb and HDCP_module_top respectively to accomplish encapsulation and instantiation of the entire verification environment components.Through the detailed analysis of HDCP encryption protection mechanism, and combining the regulation of HDMI protocol on the transmission of audio and video stream format,reasonable functional cover points for verification have been extracted, including device initialization authentication function, OESS transmission authentication function, EESS transmission authentication function, encryption compatibility between different devices and encryption function during avmute cases, etc. At last this paper have analyzed the vcs simulation waveforms directly against these testcases applied on the verification testbench to ensure the completeness of HDCP module function, and then checked the coverage report:function coverage reached 100%, code coverage no lower than 98%. As a result the goal of the verification achieved.In this paper, the verification platform design has very high reusability, and can be applied to all the environment which has function of HDCP encryption module, and also can be transplanted to subsystem level and system level verification, which will shorten the test cycle and improve the development efficiency.
