| Based on the statistical sources included in PUBMED-MEDLINE from2004-2013 about traditional Chinese medicine literature, this paper applies the research method of literature investigation, scientometric and comparative study to make a synthetic analysis qualitatively and quantitatively on the literatures, in order to reflect the traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) in the case of world development. Through the literature quantity, periodicals distribution, language distribution, subject distribution and the situation of fund to explore the status of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) in recent years, we get the research hot spot and the future development trend of TCM.With the popularity of the Internet, PUBMED provides free MEDLINE database retrieval service through the network. PUBMED retrieval system has its advantages:retrieve data updates faster, retrieval system more perfect, with advanced network technology support, fully functional free service for MEDLINE. It is considered as a model of free service system and welcomed by the majority of medical workers and book information workers. There is a high standard for literature collected in PUBMED-MEDLINE, and it represents the top level of worldwide medical research, so it is meaningful to analyze traditional Chinese medicine literature in the database. We can get guidance to study of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM).The main contribution of this article is with the method of scientometrics analyzed the traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) information in MEDLINE database comprehensively, summarized the characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine research in current world and put forward some suggestions of how to develop traditional Chinese medicine combined with reality of our country's research. |
