As an important part of the cultural heritage of humanity, architectural heritage plays an indispensable role. However, in recent years, due to the increasing rate of urbanization and the growing phenomenon of demolition of the old city, all kinds of civil protection of vernacular houses are under enormous impact and. To be non-renewable treasure of folk culture, which contains a large number of the non-material cultural heritage the folk, such as customs, beliefs, traditional crafts and technologies,vernacular houses have a remarkable significance.Now as people's awareness and capacity of the conservation and restoration of historic buildings have been increased, they recognize the value of historical residential architecture. What's more, the concept and content of conservation and restoration are gradually enriched. Because Historical residence comes from its specific historical conditions and environmental characteristics, the protection and restoration get no uniform design template and total same method. However, the logical framework method of thinking of it can be trackedThe paper selects conservation and restoration works of "Yangzi Feng compound" of as a research subject, which is located in Chongqing City, Tongnan shuangjiang Town and uses the theory and practice ways to study this issue. Research starts from three parts, which are "theoretical basis", "historical background", and "research body". The first part "theoretical basis" summarizes conservation and restoration concepts and principles that are followed in our country and the international community by analysis of the literature and comb, understanding the concept of discrimination, and the relevant practice case. And it also summarizes protection repair concepts and principles, which can be a method in "Yangzi Feng compound" protection and restoration. The second part "historical background", based on historical research methods, through literature research, data research and field surveys, etc., analyzes the Yang family house clan. And it further studies cultural background and social-economic politics reflected by history of architecture. The third part field-mapping(January 2015) and research(March 2015), based on historical documents and materials of "Architecture Historic Environment", "Building spatial pattern characteristic", "architectural art", "architectural heritage materials and technology to create ", analyzes regionalism and unique of historical architecture. And based on it, the third part summarizes the aesthetic value of art, science and technology and sums up the value of history and culture combining the forward background of history. Then through the analysis of he state of the environment of the house, building spatial pattern of the status quo, it gets comprehensive valuation and availability analysis and provides the basis for the conservation and restoration design. Based on the forward analysis of theoretical base, the fourth part "theoretical basis" elaborates strategies of the conservation and restoration which is guided by “conservation and restoration concepts and principles of Yangzi Feng Compound”, and process of demonstration for different issues under this strategy as well as the specific measures. The Final part would summary conservation and restoration works and outlook the protection and restoration process research.Finally, the paper makes the full text summary that protection of historic buildings is a complex and rich content of science subjects, covering architecture, architecture, archaeology, materials science and other fields and disciplines. And it makes conclusion and thinking of the content and proposes a outlook of future research.
