Beijing standard time on October11,2012at7PM, the Royal Swedish Academyof Sciences announced the2012Nobel Prize for Literature awarded to the Chinesewriter Mo Yan. Mo Yan became the first Chinese native writer to win the Nobel Prizefor Literature. This news event quickly became the focus of public opinion.At the same time, because of "award for the first time in111years",“hinese-French Gao Xingjian won Nobel Prize for Literature in2000"," Peace Prizeto inmates Liu Xiaobo in2010" and other historical reasons, Mo Yan won the Nobelprize in this event has been labeled a sensitive label, attracting widespread mediaattention around the word. Given that France is recognized worldwide as a culturalsuperpower, its culture in the modern history of mankind has nearly far more influenceand vitality of other countries such as Britain, France, so this paper selected France asthe representative of Western countries.This paper compared the reports on Mo Yan won the Nobel prize from mainstreamnewspapers in France and Chinese to identify their positions and attitudes, and used theagenda-setting theory to compare the characteristic differences on Mo Yan won theNobel Prize-based issues showed in the reports, and then attempted to analyze thecauses of the differences.This study based on the agenda-setting theory, used content analysis method, comparedto the "People’s Daily" and "Le Figaro" as the representative of the Sino-French mediaMo Yan won the Nobel prize events related news, analyzed the present characteristicsfrom the two newspapers. The author found that both in the layout characteristicssimilar to those news sources, there is no significant difference, but there are significantdifferences in the reported length, the number of reports, the report genre, the tone ofcoverage. Generally speaking, represented by the " People’s Daily", China news reports tend to from the perspective of cultural soft power, the background of Chinese culture tointerpret Mo Yan won the Nobel Prize event; while represented by "Le Figaro", Francenews reports tend to from a political perspective, the background of western culture tointerpret Mo Yan won the Nobel Prize event.
