Optical fiber transmission uses a new generation of optical fiber as transmissionmedium. It has high transmission speed and data bandwidth, big transmission distanceand low loss of signal. Digital camera with CCD or CMOS as imaging medium witchcan convert light signal to electrical signals effectively.Ethernet technology has shown strong vitality and obtained huge developmentsince it first be proposed. Take full advantage of the big bandwidth of Ethernet totransmit high quality image data is becoming more and more attractive. By constraintwith Ethernet, the bandwidth and speed of data transmission is still small and lowrelatively, which is unable to meet the requirements of high-speed transmission ofhigh quality image. Ethernet technology can meet the requirements and realize massdata transmission in high-speed.In this paper, it just uses Gigabit Ethernet to transfer image data. Meanwhile usingFPGA to realize the Ethernet protocol increase the portability and flexibility of systemand brought convenient for system upgrade. This paper completes the design ofcircuit board and introduces design of the principle diagram of circuit, includingselection and usage of device, mainly introduces the principle of FPGA and PHY chip88E1111. Second, it focuses on realization of Ethernet MAC layer function in FPGAbased on VHDL language, and realizes communication between FPGA and88E1111through GMII interface. Simple introduced the procedure of top-level modulestructure and the function of each sub-module, including sub-module of MAC, clock,data buffer FIFO and so on. Using simulation program modelsim for functionsimulation to verifies correctness of the program after compilation. Finally writeVC++data acquisition interface based on WinPcap on PC to realize communicationbetween FPGA and PC. Through analysis of signal data from FPGA’s PHY port andPC acquired, it shows that the system achieves intended function and runs stability.
