Objective:To explore the factors and methods of sodium disturbance after resection of sellar tumors. Methods:We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data about 468 patients who were treated in our hospital, from the aspects of the tumor type, size, surgical approach and so on.Results:The surgical approach and tumor type were related to hypernatremia after the resection of sellar tumors obviously(P<0.05),but hyponatremia was the opposite(P>0.05).The surgical approach and tumor size were related to hypernatremia after the resection of pituitary adenoma obviously(P<0.05).Conclusion:Hypernatremia occurred easily after transcranial surgery of sellar tumors, postoperation of craniopharyngioma and giant pituitary adenoma.Early and correct diagnosis of syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion(SIADH) and cerebral salt wasting syndrome(CSWS),is the key to treating of hyponatremia.Being skilled at operating and monitoring sodium closely after operation, are also very important to the treatment of sodium disturbance.
