The Construction Of The Oncology Nurse Specialist Training Program Based On The Core Competency

Higher incidence of cancer and the development of tumor medical technology put forward the challenge to nursing staff, and specialization development which is corresponding with refining division of medical science is the inevitable trend of nursing development. The development of society、patients、and discipline need the occurrence of cancer specialist nurses. The specialized nursing development abroad is relatively mature, there is a lot of active tumor specialized nurses in medical institutions or communities. The development of specialist nurses in China has just started, there is no standard and unified oncology nurse specialist training mode. This study aims to exploring the training programme of oncology nurse specialists.There are three parts of this studies:Part Ⅰ:Theory research and literature research. This part systematacially reviews the current development of specialized nursing at home and abroad, the development and training situation of oncology nurse specialists at home and abroad as well as the core competence framework guideline of foreign oncology nurse specialists as the research foundation of this topic. Using Taylor’s behavior target mode, Hamric’s theory of advanced nursing practice to build the training program of oncology nurse specialist.Part Ⅱ:Preliminary build the core competence framework of oncology nurse specialist. Exploring the opinions of target group of the students, the society and discipline experts for oncology nurse specialists training, and combines the result of literature research, under the guidance of Hamric’s advanced nursing practice theory, forming oncology nurse specialist core competence evaluation system conforms to the situation of China. The core competence of the oncology nurse specialists was expound from the professional spirit, the clinical practice ability, education consulting skills, coordination ability、nursing management and nursing scientific research ability. The evaluation system consists of six which includes 222 items.Part Ⅲ:Form oncology nurse specialist training program based on the core competence. In this part, form the training program inculing the access standards, capacity requirements and training content and so on.Conclusion:Through literature review and theoretical research, this study formed the oncology nurse specialists’ core competence system suitable to China’s situation based on qualitative and quantitative research. This system included six categories and 55 items. Also we formed the training framework of oncology nurse specialists, including the access standards, capacity requirements, and training content, providing reference for the training of oncology nurse specialists in clinical situations.
