Methadone Maintenance Treatment Adherence And Its Influencing Factors

Objective: To study the situation of methadone maintenance treatment(MMT) patients’compliance and its influencing factors, and provide scientific basis for improvingintervention measures to the compliance of target population, MMT patients’ basicinformation was collected by means of questionnaire, including Morisky medicationadherence, incidence of drop-outs, heroin lapse during treatment, and their relationshipwith socio-demographics, MMT experience, MMT cognize, family function and socialsupport.Methods:246patients was recruited using multi-stage random sampling from MMTclinics in Wuhan. To study the situation of MMT patients’ compliance and its influencingfactors, information was collected by four questionnaires, including self-designing MMTinjection drug users’ basic information questionnaire, Morisky Medication AdherenceScale, FACESⅡ-CV, Social Support Rating Scale.Results: Of246study object,139(56.50%) patients’ Morisky medication adherence weregood,94(38.21%) were medium,13(5.29%) were bad;114(46.34%) never interrupt MMT,119(48.37%) had ever interrupted MMT,13(5.29%) interrupted MMT frequently;101(41.06%) continued to use heroin during treatment; educational level, MMTexperience, dose, MMT cognize, MMT therapeutic evaluation, satisfaction of MMT staffservice, family adaptability and subjective social support all have been observed astatistical significance to methadone maintenance treatment patients’ compliance (p<0.05).Conclusions: Morisky Medication Adherence Scale can be used to evaluate methadonemaintenance treatment patients’ compliance; MMT Morisky adherence, continuoustreatment situation, and heroin lapse during treatment were not optimistic; the influencingfactors may include socio-demographics, MMT experience, MMT cognize, familyfunction and social support.
