We often encounter saline soils of engineering construction in our country, it’s often show different engineering characteristics in different environment conditions of the nature, in the dry environment showed higher strength characteristics and in rain or damp environment condition the strength drops rapidly, the special properties of saline soil has a great effect in the engineering construction. Therefore, the research of engineering geological properties of saline soil has a certain reference to promote country’s engineering construction.There are a large number of soil sites in northwest China, but those sites are suffering from a severe damage and produced form many diseases due to the special environment of northwest arid and semiarid conditions and coupled with the influence of concentrated rainfall, the form of disease in soil sites mainly performance for back off of bottom and flake off of surface are the main perform of salination. A lot of previous studies show that the salt content of disease in soil sites are mostly high and usually reach the salt content of saline soil in arid and semi-arid areas, and are mainly composed of NaCl and Na2SO4 salt. Therefore, the soil of sites can produce disease as a kind of saline soils, the study of its property is also about the research of saline investigated qualitative.On the basis of previous studies this paper use the saline soil in sites of northwestern region for raw materials, according to certain gradient respectively mixed with different concentration of NaCl and Na2SO4 two kinds of soluble salt in after desalting treatment of the site soil, and test specific salt content and category of saline soils in the grain size, mechanical properties, strength characteristics and hydraulic properties changes. Mechanical properties including saline soils shear strength parameters, uniaxial compressive strength and tensile strength, strength characteristics were tested with sodium kind of elastic wave velocity and the change of the ability to resist wind erosion, water properties in the main test sample with sodium limit moisture content and permeability parameters. On this basis, by scanning electron microscope and mercury injection test from microscopic explained the changes of characteristics in saline soils.Through above test can get following conclusions:(1) the existence of salinity in soils has influence of particle size, (2) in indoor environment, the soil of gradually increasing in intensity and the corresponding elastic wave velocity and the ability to resist wind erosion is also increased with the increase of salinity, (3) the characteristics of saline soils changed silt from silty clay with the increase of salt content and due to the addition of salt affect the permeability coefficient of saline soils, (4) the influence in water stability on chlorine salt and sulphate of soil is different, with the increase of salt the collapse of sodium chloride of the sample rate gradually decreases, and the collapse of the sodium sulfate sample rate increased gradually, (5) With the increase of salt content, salt sample is not easy craze, turtle crack is not easy to produce, and the color of the turtle crack gradually deepened, (6) under the condition of the outdoor environment, the salt in site soils have the change of the freeze-thaw and dry-wet cycles, this create conditions for the formation of soil site diseases, which accelerated the damage of soil sites.
