After five decades of development, Chinese mainland television drama has obtained a great achievement in terms of both quantity and quality. Many classical TV dramas are not only well received by Chinese audiences, but also hugely popular in abroad, especially, costume drama and Kung fu drama has become known worldwide as a typical symbol of Chinese TV drama However, in the international market, Chinese mainland TV drama’s transmission capacity cannot be compared to American TV drama and Korean TV drama. Especially in recent years, under the impact of the Korean dramas, mainland TV drama’s international market share is shrinking. Korean TV drama is also surprisingly popular in China; on the contrary, mainland TV dramas are in the doghouse in South Korea. The trade deficit of TV drama in China and South Korea are growing. The mainland TV dramas in South Korea are in the cold and Korean dramas in China are well liked, it has become a matter worth concerning and researching. But nowadays most of research is regard to Korean TV dramas spread in China, less research is regard to mainland TV dramas spread in Korea. So the paper tries to make a research of mainland TV dramas spread in Korea.The first chapter introduces the purposes and the meaning of this theme. The second chapter gives a summary of mainland TV drama and elaborates its communication process in aboard. The third chapter analyzes the current situation of mainland TV dramas in Korea, focusing on the analysis of mainland TV drama’s spreading range, content, effect in Korea. The fourth chapter gives the Korean TV audiences an empirical investigation by the mean of questionnaire and interview. With communication theory and intercultural communication theory, the fifth chapter reveals the main factors of impacting mainland TV dramas in Korea. According to the result of study, the last chapter summarizes some countermeasure to improve mainland TV dramas’communication capacity in Korea.In the context of globalization, intercultural communication became overwhelming. TV drama is the manifestation of culture, it is no exception of globalization. How to keep from the shocking of other cultures and gains an efficient intercultural communication, it is a big challenge for mainland TV dramas.
