The cultural identity issues have been hot in many discipline researches sincethe1990s and have gotten attention in the field of Marxism study as well. Especiallyafter the reform and open policy, with the tremendous achievements in politics,economy and culture, the scope and the depth of the cultural communication hasbeen broadened and deepened in the country. Following the development of theeconomy globalization, the western culture pored in and brought the growing clashesin different cultures as well as the great changes to all aspects in our society. Underthe new circumstances, the key work today is to strengthen the Chinese culturalidentity of Sinkiang minority college students and to cultivate their abilities to be theconstructers and the great new force in the process of the great-leap-forwarddevelopment of Sinkiang by reinforcing the frontier defense and richening thefrontier people. This thesis which uses the Sinkiang minority college students as theresearch models adopts the documentary methodology and questionnaire surveyprocedure, the principle of integrating theory with practice, to analyze the currentsituation and the affecting factors of the students and to find out the methods ofenhancing the Chinese cultural identity. The thesis is supposed to provide the advicesand guidance in strengthening the Chinese cultural identity of Sinkiang minoritystudents and cultivating them to the qualified builders of socialism.The thesis consists of four chapters:The first chapter is the introduction in which the author introduces thebackground and significance of the topic. The content of this chapter is mainly aboutthe summery of the foreign countries’ study and the research idea and methods of thethesis. The emphases, difficulties and the innovations of the thesis are alsomentioned in this chapter.The second chapter is the basic theory summary. In this chapter, the definitionsof “identity”“cultural identity” and “Chinese cultural identity” are elaboratedsystematically to help with the understanding of the features and the functions of thecultural identity. The author also analyzes the cultural identity under the Marxistvisual threshold and the significance of enhancing the Chinese cultural identity in theglobal context.The third chapter is the analysis of the questionnaire and the affecting factors.In the questionnaire there are three subjects. They are “the understanding of thecultural identity and its function”“the understanding of the native culture and its relationship with the whole Chinese culture”“the results of the Chinese culturalidentity educating”. The author points out the current situation of the Sinkiangminority students’ cultural identity through the questionnaire. And on this basis, theaffecting factors in the students’ cultural identity are explored in depth.The forth chapter is about some proposals on enhancing the Chinese culturalidentity of the Sinkiang minority students. The main contents are, first, to build the“multi-cultural unity” concept; second, to develop the campus cultural constructionin the colleges; third, to intensify the education of Chinese cultural identity amongthe minority college students.
