National identity is an important national consciousness, only after peopleconfirm their own national identity, and they attributable them to their nation, theywill concern about the national interests, will voluntarily take up the responsibility ofnational development.The Minority college students are very valuable humanresources in the Xinjiang ethnic areas, not only the status of their national identitydirectly related to the comprehensive development of their own quality, but also havean important impact on the construction of socialist democratic politics and thedevelopment and stability of the border areas at the same time. Therefore, the studyof national identity of minority students in Xinjiang has an important practicalsignificance.The focus of this study is to explore the status and influencing factors ofnational identity of Minority Students in Xinjiang, this study takes minority collegestudents in Xinjiang Normal University as the goal of the study, collects informationwith the questionnaire and literature, and analysis the survey data under the guidanceof social theory and social identity theory, so as to explore the relationship betweenethnic identity and national identity, and trying to find a reasonable and effective wayto enhance national identity of minority students.In addition to the introduction and conclusion, the structure of the paper, alsocontains four parts:The first part of the paper describes the definition of national identity and its relatedconcepts. The different scholars studied identity, national identity, country identityfrom different angles, different study fields, and reached different conclusions.The second part describes the current situation of the national identity ofMinority Students in Xinjiang. And also this paper analyzes the status of the nationalidentity of Minority Students in Xinjiang,the situation of taking participation inpolitical activities and the relationship between ethnic identity and nationalidentity,through Uygur, Kazak, Mongolian, Hui, Kirgiz minorities and so on and onthe basis of analysis of the data, also and reach a conclusion that there is higherdegrees of nation identity of minority students in Xinjiang, but still lack ofunderstanding.The third part discusses the factors that affect the status of the national identity ofthe Minority College Students in Xinjiang. This part analyzes the factors that affectthe national identity of Minority Students from four angles of the individual, thefamily, the school, the state. The factors, such as the national identity, political situation, different middle schools in Personal factors, family economic income andthe social environment in family factors, the campus culture and the collegecurriculum in school factors, the enthusiasm of political participation, the country’spolitical factors and national policies in national factors and other factors.The fourth part describes countermeasures to improve the national identity ofminority college Students. these measures are: College education on national identity,enrich the campus culture, open reasonable university courses, strengthen the culturalidentity and political identity of Minority Students,enchance the cultivation of thespirit of the Chinese nation, in order to improve the national identity of MinorityStudents in Xinjiang.
