Objective: To evaluate the role of macrophage stimulating protein(MSP)and receptor tyrosine kinase RON in the pathogenesis of chronic obstructivepulmonary disease(COPD),we observed the change of plasma and inducedsputum MSP, IL-6, IL-8, TNF-α level of AECOPD, stable COPD and thehealthy control, and investigated the expression and distribution of RON in thelung tissue of people suffering from COPD or the control.Methods:1.90people from physical examination, outpatient orinpatient in North sichuan medical college affiliated hospital from July2013to December2013, were divided into3groups: healthy control, stable COPD,AECOPD. Each group had30people. The level of MSP, IL-6, IL-8andTNF-α in the plasma of each group, as well as the levels of MSP in theinduced sputum of patients with AECOPD and stable COPD were assessed byEnzyme-Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay(ELISA).2. The lung tissue sampleswere obtained from20COPD patients and25controls with operation becauseof lung cancer in north sichuan medical college affiliated hospital from May2013to December2013. The expression and distribution of RON protein inthe lung tissue of each group was observed and compared byimmunohistochemistry.Results:1. The concentrations of MSP, IL-6, IL-8and TNF-α in theplasma of the patients with AECOPD and stable COPD were obviouslyhigher than those of the healthy control(P<0.05). The concentrations of MSP, IL-6, IL-8and TNF-α in the plasma of the AECOPD patients were notablyhigher than those of the stable COPD patients (P<0.01).2. The concentrationof MSP in the induced sputum of the patients with AECOPD was remarkablyhigher than that of the stabilized patients with COPD(P<0.01).3. The levelsof RON protein in the bronchus region and alveolar region of the lung fromthe COPD patients were outstandingly higher than those of the control(P<0.05), and the expression of RON protein in COPD patients bronchusregion was more than the alveolar region.Conclusion:1. The synthesis and release of MSP, IL-6, IL-8and TNF-αin the patients with COPD are increased.2. The concentrations of plasma andinduced sputum MSP, and the concentrations of IL-6, IL-8and TNF-α ofplasma in COPD patients are related to the severity of the disease.3. Theexpression of RON protein in lung tissue of the patients with COPD isstronger. The expression levels of RON protein in lung tissue of the COPDpatients are also related to the severity of the disease.4. MSP and RON playan important role in the pathogenesis of COPD. The mechanism might bemainly involved in the regulation of airway inflammation.
