| Objective: To study the value of the CAT score in the assessment of the severity and response to the treatment effect, the association with pulmonary function and acute exacerbation frequency at previous year in patients with COPD.Methods: 84 patients with AECOPD admitted to the department of respiration were selected in our hospital from December 2014 to June2016.We should record the patient’s information, complete the relevant examination and give some supportive treatment, and the CAT scores of 84 patients in the admission,3 days after admission,10 days after admission and 3 months after discharge. Results: The mean CAT scores of 84 patients are 23.8 points,20.5points,16.7 points and 11.4 points in the admission,3 days after admission,10 days after admission and 3 months after discharge, respectively. After treatment there was a significant reduction in the CAT scores. The mean CAT scores of COPD patients are 25.1 points, who had high acute exacerbation frequency at previous year.On the contrary, the patient’s scores of low acute exacerbation frequency at previous year are 22.5points(25.1 vs 22.5;P<0.05).The FEV1/FVC(%)and FEV1%predicted were(49.2 ± 10.9)% and(47.21±18.56)%,the pulmonary function were increased to(55.33 ± 9.23)% and(56.78 ± 15.74)% after 10 days treatment. The FEV1/FVC(%)and FEV1%predicted were independent predictors of the CAT scores(P<0.05).Conclusions: The COPD assessment test have certain application value in the assessment of the severity of the COPD patients, response to treatment, the pulmonary function and acute exacerbation frequency at previous year. |
