Objective:Using optical coherence tomography(OCT) to measure themacular retinal thickness with different degrees of myopia to compare thevariation of macular retinal thickness, and to provide data for further researchmyopic macular zone thickness.Methods:80patients are randomly selected at the eye clinic, whose agerange between10years old to32years old,and randomly selected one eye.Thedegree of myopia selection is from spherical equivalent-1.00D to-9.00D.Allsubjects eyes meet the following requirements:they don’t have apparenthistory of eye disease;their best corrected visual acuity are greater than1.0;their intraocular pressure are in the normal range;their fundus don’t havesignificant pathological changes.According to the presence or absence ofrefractive errors, the people are divided into normal group(20) and myopia.Themyopia are divided into three groups according to the degree of refractivemyopia:low myopia group with20people(<-3.00D),moderate myopia groupwith20people(-3.00D to-6.00D),high myopia group with20people(>-6.00D).The macular retinal is divided into the nasal, temporal side, aboveand below, and the four regions are selected two points on each region whichare from the fovea1000μm and2000μm.Each group foveal retinal thicknessand retinal thickness in each group of two points on four areas are measuredby EDI-OCT.The data are compared between groups based on age,sex anddegree of myopia among the groups, while the retinal thickness in differentregions within the same site of the same group and the retinal thickness indifferent points within the same regions of the same group will be comparison. The experimental data will be obtained using SPSS13.0software forstatistical analysis,"P<0.05" is considered statistically significant.Continuousvariables are expressed as the arithmetic mean and standard deviation(X±SD)or M(QR),T test or chi-square test are used to compare the Continuous variables between two groups, F test or chi-square test are used to compare theContinuous variables between multiple groups.Discrete variables areexpressed as percentage and compared with the X2test.Result:1There is no significant differences of age and sex between groups.2The analysis retinal thickness2.1Comparison of retinal thickness with different groups in the sameposition:①There are no significant differences of the retinal thickness offoveal and the retinal thickness of nasal, temporal, and above from the fovea1000μm and2000μm,as well as the retinal thickness of below from the fovea1000μm in the four groups (P>0.05).②The retinal thickness of below from thefovea2000μm are pairwise comparised between the four groups:There is nosignificant differences between normal and low myopia group and betweennormal and moderate myopia group,as well as between low myopia group andthe moderate myopia group(P>0.05).The retinal thickness of the normal groupare greater than the high myopia group(P<0.05);the retinal thickness of thelow myopia group are greater than the high myopia group(P<0.05);the retinalthickness of moderate myopia group are greater than the high myopiagroup(P<0.05).③There is a correlation between the retinal thickness of belowfrom the fovea2000μm and refractive error in the high myopiagroup(r=-0.956,P=0.000), the difference is statistically significant(P<0.05).2.2Comparison of retinal thickness of the same distance from the foveal indifferent directions in the same group.2.2.1The retinal thickness of the same distance from the foveal in the differentdirections with the normal group will be compared:①The retinal thickness atthe fovea1000μm in the normal group:There is no significant differencesbetween nasal and above,as well as between the nasal andbottom(P>0.05).Nasal retinal thickness is greater than the temporalside(P<0.05);temporal retinal thickness is less than theupper(P<0.05);temporal retinal thickness is smaller than thebottom(P<0.05);the upper retinal thickness is more than the bottom(P<0.05).②T he retinal thickness at the fovea2000μm in the normalgroup:There is no significant differences between nasal and above,as well asbetween the temporal and bottom(P<0.05).Nasal retinal thickness is greaterthan the temporal side(P<0.05);nasal retinal thickness is greater than thebottom side(P<0.05);temporal retinal thickness is less than the upperside(P<0.05);the upper retinal thickness is more than the bottom(P<0.05).2.2.2The retinal thickness of the same distance from the foveal in the differentdirections with the low myopia group will be compared:①The retinalthickness at the fovea1000μm in the low myopia group:There is no significantdifferences between nasal and above and between the nasal and bottom,as wellas between the upper and bottom(P>0.05).Nasal is greater than the temporalside(P<0.05);temporal side is less than the upper(P<0.05);temporal side issmaller than the bottom(P<0.05).②T he retinal thickness at the fovea2000μmin the low myopia group:There is no significant differences between thetemporal and the bottom(P>0.05);nasal is greater than the temporalside(P<0.05);nasal is greater than the above(P<0.05);nasal is greater than thebottom(P<0.05);the temporal side is less than the above(P<0.05);the upper isgreater than the bottom (P<0.05).2.2.3The retinal thickness of the same distance from the foveal in the differentdirections with the moderate myopia group will be compared:①The retinalthickness at the fovea1000μm in the moderate myopia group:There is nosignificant differences between nasal and above and between the nasal andbottom,as well as between the upper and bottom(P>0.05).Nasal is greater thanthe temporal side(P<0.05);temporal side is less than theupper(P<0.05);temporal side is smaller than the bottom(P<0.05).②The retinalthickness at the fovea2000μm in the moderate myopia group:There is nosignificant differences between the temporal and the bottom(P>0.05);nasal isgreater than the temporal side(P<0.05);nasal is greater than theabove(P<0.05);nasal is greater than the bottom(P<0.05);the temporal side isless than the above(P<0.05);the upper is greater tha-n the bottom(P<0.05).2.2.4The retinal thickness of the same distance from the foveal in the different directions with the high myopia group will be compared:①The retinalthickness at the fovea1000μm in the high myopia group:There is nosignificant differences between the nasal and bottom(P>0.05).Nasal is greaterthan the temporal side(P<0.05);nasal is less than the upper(P<0.05);temporalis less than the upper(P<0.05);temporal is less than the bottom(P<0.05);theupper is greater than the bottom(P<0.05).②The retinal thickness at the fovea2000μm in the high myopia group:There is no significant differences betweennasal and upper,as well as between temporal and bottom(P>0.05).Nasal isgreater than the temporal side(P<0.05);nasal is greater than thebottom(P<0.05);the temporal side is less than the above(P<0.05);the upper isgreater than the bottom (P<0.05).2.3The retinal thickness of selected sites and foveal thickness will to becompared in the same group:retinal thickness at any site within each group aregreater than foveal thickness(P<0.05).2.4The retinal thickness of the same orientation at different sites within thesame group will to be compared:the retinal thickness at the fovea1000μm arelarger than the retinal thickness at the fovea2000μm in any directions on thenasal, temporal, above and below within four groups(P<0.05).Conclusion:The retinal thickness of high myopia will be graduallythinning with diopter increases at the bottom from the fovea2000μm,and thereis no correlation between the retinal thickness of normal, low and moderatemyopia and diopter. The retinal thickness of fovea is the thinnes in macular, then to the surrounding thickening and thinning.Temporal and bottom side arethinner than the nasal and the upper, and the temporal retinal thickness at thefovea1000μm is the thinnest in the four directions of nasal, temporal, upperand bottom. There is no correlation between the foveal thickness andrefractive.
