Sharing the medical information is expected to provide secure, ubiquitous access to complete healthcare information and to improve healthcare efficiency and quality. Integrated medical information can provide accurate data in real time for medical staffs and patients. However, the fact that complicated medical business and various institutions involved have developed their health information systems in an autonomous way, has resulted in a proliferation of heterogeneous clinical information systems, which hinders the task of information sharing. Additionally, as the complexity of the health domain evolving rapidly, these systems contain a large number of raw data, leading to the phenomenon of data exploding while lacking of semantic. Namely, information can be readable only by humans and computers cannot process or interpret the data presented effectively. Therefore, it is high-profile and urgent to make full use of these information and to improve the quality of medical services. The traditional methods have partly solved structure and grammar heterogeneity of systems by using a variety of criteria to implement information sharing, but they were not able to solve the problem of semantic heterogeneity. To address the issue above, we propose a three-layer framework to enable clinical information exchange based on semantic technology among the clinical systems. We publish distributed resources to Linked Data using hybrid ontology approach. The semantic-based approach provides a better mechanism for knowledge sharing and reuse. In this paper, The D2RQ engine is used to achieve heterogeneous medical information to local ontology mapping function. Proteg6platform is applied to build ontology as the upper ontology. At the same time, semantic mapping rules are built among these ontologies. Then we build an experimental system based on the aforementioned model. The effectiveness of the method is verified through exchanging treatment information successfully. It is more flexible and effective for they can connect seamlessly without changing the original data structure in medical institutions. Information exchange method based on semantic is loose coupling and cross-platform, which is a good way to promote the sense of heterogeneous information sharing, and to achieve the purpose of providing personalized healthcare service to users at anytime and anywhere.
