Objective:Semantic network, the web constructed by connecting one concept with another, is a simulation of human thinking process to illustrate how we establish cognitions. It is an interdisciplinary methodology involving artificial intelligence and cognition science. Ontology develops semantic networks by introducing more rigorous constraints. The present thesis takes one of the Chinese medicine classics Emergent Prescriptions Worth Thousands of Gold(备急千金要方,Bei Ji Qian Jin Yao Fang) as research subject, explores the method of construct sematic network of Doctors knowledge systems using ontology methodologies such as the construction of semantic types and relations and knowledge expression model of cognitive processing. This is to achieve the goal of knowledge sharing.Method:This thesis constructs the semantic network of Emergent Prescriptions Worth Thousands of Gold using ontology techniques, which includes the methodologies of concept extraction, semantic type construction, setting of semantic relationships and N-nary relationship expression of Chinese medicine knowledge. Further, the inference engines of Protege and human brain are compared. This thesis takes OWL Protege as the research platform, and takes the advantage of thinking method, linguistic approach, ontology method and comparative analysis. The thinking method includes analogism and deduction. This thesis combines both methods to study the problem of constructing the semantic types and semantic relationships. Linguistic approach includes both semantics and grammar approach. This thesis applies both approaches in the process of abstracting concepts reasonably and discovery on semantic relationships during the construction of semantic types. Ontology method studies reasonable structure in the semantic network mainly by constructing the principle of ontology construction, including construction of semantic types, semantic relationships and multiple relationships, which are based on the characteristic of ontology. Comparative analysis is used in construction of the multiple relationships, which are traditional or based on axiom function. It is also used in the discussion of the similarities and differences between the human brain reasoning and the protege reasoning.Result:The thesis completes the construction of semantic network frame of Emergent Prescriptions Worth Thousands of Gold and construction of the corresponding semantic types and relationships. The semantic types constructed by trees are divided into 8 layers, and sum to 249 entries, including 2 first-order semantic types,4 second-order semantic types,13 third-order semantic types,39 forth-order semantic types,79 fifth-order semantic types,77 sixth-order semantic types,26 seventh-order semantic types and 9 eighth-order semantic types; Semantic relationships constructed sum to 70, including 61 entries constructed by object properties,9 entries constructed by data properties. This thesis also concludes 4 multiple relationships based on covering "the timeline" or not, and construct the corresponding multiple relationship knowledge expression model. Further, a sample part of the semantic network is visualized to analyze the similarity and difference of engines of Protege.Innovation:1. In order to construct knowledge model of TCM practitioners’cognitive processing, this thesis constructs the semantic network of Emergent Prescriptions Worth Thousands of Gold.2. This thesis discusses the multiple relationships in TCM, and construct the multiple relationship expression model of TCM knowledge to render TCM cognition into natural language 3. Based on thought pattern in TCM such as analogism, deduction and reduction mode in Protege editor, this thesis studies the characteristic of properties in the construction of semantic relationships, develops the simulation of correlative thinking of human being brain further.4. Add the semantic types and semantic relationships in the basis of TCMLS semantic network frame.Conclusion:1. To sustain the accuracy of the knowledge representation-based ontology, the research target should be selected from the medical classics authored by doctors from a same school; 2. Specific to the Classic Emergent Prescriptions Worth Thousands of Gold used as our example, the semantic network of ancient medical classics established with ontology technology can well exhibit the doctors’knowledge modes using; 3. Referring to the thinking of analogy and deduction in Chinese medicine as well as the function characteristics of Protege editor, the defining of sematic relationship can to a modest extent reflect how human brain works; 4. There exists not only the binary relationship of concepts, but mutually parallel or confined multi-nary relationships, these relationships usually manifest in the recognition of the addition and minus of herbs during prescription composing, and the natural course or onset sequence of diseases.5. The present research categorizes these relationships into 4 types of models according to whether they contain "timeline". Further, the transformation recognition of Chinese medicine into natural language can be realized; 6. Comparing with how human thinks, the Protege process is inferior in the processing order with its capacity confined to 1 order reasoning logic.
