Objective:To analyse Reliability and validity of Chinese professional quality of life scale(ProQOL);to describe ICU nurses and common ward nurses the current state ofcompassion satisfaction and compassion fatigue;to investigate the influencing factorsof compassion satisfaction and compassion fatigue.Method:Refer to traditional Chinese version and English version ProQOL,the revisedscale was conducted expert consultation and modified; it was designed to investigatethe scale’s reliability and validity in nurses from3grade A hospitals in jiangxiprovince.161ICU nurses and161common ward nurses were investigated by usinggeneral questionnaire and ProQOL.Results:(1)Item content validity(I-CVI)of29items were greater than0.8,the value ofAdjusted Kappa (K*)were greater than0.76;universal agreement scale contentvalidity(S-CVI/UA)and average scale content validity(S-CVI/Ave)were0.87,0.96.Byfactor analysis, all items’ factor loading were greater than0.76;three factors wereextracted from varimax rotated component matrix, and can explain69.649%of thetotal variance. The Cronbach’s αof subscales that consist of compassion satisfaction, secondary traumatic stress and burnout were0.86、0.88、0.77; The Cronbach’s α ofProQOL was0.90,and split-half reliability of ProQOL was0.78.(2)The ICU nurses score of compassion satisfaction (3.07±0.53), secondarytrauma stress (2.80±0.48), burnout (2.86±0.53) were compared with general wardnurses’ each dimension score, and the difference is statistically significant. In the eachitem of three dimensions, The ICU nurses’ item score of compassion satisfaction(item18,27), secondary traumatic stress (item5,9,14,25), burnout (item1,8,17,26)were compared with the common ward nurse’, and difference has statisticalsignificance. Using single factor analysis:The factors of risk to ICU nurses’compassion satisfaction were income satisfaction, physical exercise, diet, physical condition, physical discomfort; the factors of risk to ICU nurses’secondary traumastress were sex, nature of the personnel, monthly revenue, physical discomfort, physical condition; the factors of risk to ICU nurses’burnout were job scheduling, physical exercise, diet, physical condition and physical discomfort. According to theresults of multivariate analysis, the positive factors of compassion satisfaction was thesleep time, and the reverse factor of compassion satisfaction were physicaldiscomfort, job schedule5(administrative job) and income satisfaction, the positivefactor of secondary traumatic stress were physical discomfort and job schedule4(8Am-3Pm,3Pm-7Pm,7Pm-2Am,2Am-8Am);the reverse factor of secondarytraumatic stress was job schedule2(personnel agency); the positive factors ofburnout were physical condition, job schedule4and physical discomfort, the reversefactor of burnout was physical exercise.Conclusion:(1)ProQOL(the revised version)has a good reliability and validity, and can beused as measurement tool to realize the Chinese nurses’ compassion fatigue.(2)ICU nurses were prone to compassion fatigue.nurses, nursing manager, medical institutions should strengthen the sense of understanding compassion fatigue’causes and influence factors, and to seek relevant countermeasures.
