Design And Implementation Of TMS320C64x Instruction Set Simulator

In traditional hardware and software co-development model, the software designand the hardware development divert mutually, it is unable to carry on software’sdebugging and testing without hardware. This means that hardware development maybecome the bottleneck of the whole system development. The simulation technology isapplied in the development of embedded software which can solve this problemeffectively. It can improve the software development process, improve developmentefficiency.The technology of instruction set simulator is studied in this thesis, and then theneeds analysis and the overall design of the simulator which is based on analysis theTMS320C64x architecture and working principle are given. Firstly the technology ofinstruction set simulator is studied in the thesis, and then the interpreted instruction setsimulation techniques and compiled instruction set simulation techniques are analysised.Second the TMS320C64x architechture and working principle are analysised in thisthesis, including the instruction set, pipeline, interrupt system, memory, timer, etc, and itgives the needs analysis and design program. Third the detailed design of the simulatoris given in the thesis, the primary functions of the simulator include instruction setsimulation, pipeline simulation, register simulation, simulation of the interrupt system,memory simulation and timer simulation. Finally, we make a way to verify the functionand the performance of the simulator, and a short perspective ofthe future work is alsoincluded at the end of the thesis.The simulator is an important part of embedded integrated developmentenvironment developed by our corporation. It can help software developers to debug ortest program, it have a significance to improve embedded software development.
