Dangerous goods are raw materials, fuels or products for industrial productionand transport of dangerous goods is an important part of the material flow. Thetransport of dangerous goods which requires high technology is difficult and relatesto the safety of people’s lives and property. The accident of highway transport ofdangerous goods once happen, it will result in long traffic gridlock or heavy casualtiesaround the transport routes and even lead to disastrous consequences. Therefore, ithas become an important topic for the transportation management department andthe dangerous goods’transportation profession to find a way by which we cancontrol the safety and improve the environment of the dangerous goods’transportation.In the intelligent monitoring and management, Internet of Things is a veryimportant technology. It can effectively monitor the vehicle’s driving directions andreal-timely collect the various indicators which reflect the state of the dangerousgoods in vehicles, then transfer and deal with it. So, it can reduce highway transportaccidents to make sure highway transport’s security and improve transport efficiency.Besides, people can take timely measures to minimize losses after the accidents. Thepaper researches the monitoring of dangerous goods’transportation which based onthe Internet of Things. The paper outlines the key technologies of the Internet ofThings and the process of dangerous goods’transportation and explores theapplication of the Internet of Things (such as sensors) in transport monitoring, thendesigns a system based on the Internet of Things to monitoring the dangerous goods’highway transport. At last, the paper gives a specific example.The study has guiding and practical significance to strengthen the intelligentmonitoring of dangerous goods’transport and improve the security of dangerousgoods’transport.
