ObjectiveAs a common and frequently encountered disease, the lumbar muscle strain appears more in middle aged and the old. In recent years, this disease of youth has ascending rate, bringing physiological, physical and financial burdens to the patient. This paper treats lumbar muscle strain via the integration of Chinese herbs and acupuncture. The VAS scores, symptom scores, sign scores and general efficacy are observed and follow-up visit is arranged to observe the maintenance of its long-term efficacy, providing the treatment of lumbar muscle strain with more simple, more effective and more economic treatment evidence.MethodThe study chosed60patients with lumbar muscle strain (from34years old to67years old) from the clinic of traditional Chinese medicine department of Deyang People’s Hospital, Sichuan Province according to the Case Inclusion Criteria and Case Exclusion Criteria. All cases were divided into treatment group, control group1and control group2randomly according to the time sequence of seeing doctor,20patients in each group. The treatment method of integrating Ion-introduction of Chinese herbs with acupuncture was adapted to the treatment group, pure Ion-introduction of Chinese herbs to control group1and pure acupuncture treatment to control group2. The treatment of the above mentioned groups was once every two days and5times composes a treatment course. The patients should receive2courses of treatment. Observe and record VAS scores, symptom scores, sign scores and general efficacy of patients of the three groups before and after the treatment, and arrange follow-up visit three months after the treatment; observe and record the long-term efficacy of each group. Builted data base with SPSS19.0software and collected, analyzed and processed the data.ResultAfter the statistic analysis, the basic information of the three groups are comparable (P>0.05). All the three methods can effectively ease the patients’pain and can obviously improve their clinic symptoms, signs and symptomatic scores (P<0.01); the three groups have no obvious statistical difference in terms of the improvement of VAS scores (P>0.05); the improvement degree of the general treatment group is better than that of the control groups (P<0.05); the improvement degrees of control group1and group2have no obvious statistical difference (P>0.05); the total effective rate of each group have no obvious difference (P>0.05); however, the cure rate of the treatment group is higher than that of the control groups (P<0.05); the long-term efficacy of the treatment is better than that of the control groups (P<0.05).ConclusionThe efficacy of the new method that integrate traditional Chinese herbs ion with acupuncture is significant. It get over the shortcomings of pure treatment and complement each treatment method’s advantages and put the Dialectic treatment features of the traditional Chinese medicine into full play. Moreover, this save, cost-effective therapy possesses less negative effects and obvious long-term efficacy, and can be easily operated. Therefore, it is worth introducing to clinic applications.
