Objective How to improve the communication skills of medical college students received themajority of the attention of scholars at home and abroad. Especially, not only developingknowledge and skills in Communication Skills in students but also fostering associated attitudesthat can serve as a mediating link between students’clinical competence and their clinicalperformance. For the measurement of the attitudes of nursing students communication skills, astable and efficient measurement tools was been needed. Equal to 2002 developed for medicalstudents Communication Skills Attitude Scale has been translated into multiple languageversions by the British University of Dundee , Professor Charlotte Rees. This study aimed totranslate Communication Skills Attitude Scale into Chinese and analyze reliability and validityof this scale. Explore influencing factors of the nursing graduating students’attitudes towardscommunication skills learning.Methods CSAS was introduced into Chinese mainland through translating、back-translating andculturally adjusting of the original CSAS. The reliability analysis included the Cronbach coefficient and test-retest reliability. The validity analysis included face validity、contentvalidity、structure validity. Convenient sampling method was used to obtain 267 undergraduatenursing students which came from Fenyang Medicine of Shanxi Medical University andMedicine of Datong University .The participants had learned communication skills course.Chinese version of CSAS and General Questionnaire for Nursing Students was used together tocollect the data. The software named Spss13.0 was used to do statistical description .Analysis ofvariance、bivariate correlation、simple linear regression analysis and multiple linear regressionanalysis were carried out.Results 1.Professor Rees in the development of this scale survey of medicalstudents,nurse-patient relationship is also very important,so nursing students also apply to thisscale,so the consent of the original author agree that scale change 1,19 doctor to nurse ;changemedical students to nursing students ;change8 seminar to symposium ;change5,9,14,16has helped or will help to help .2.Cronbach coefficient of the total score of Ch-CSAS , which is an index of internalconsistency is 0.841.FactorⅠhas a internal consistency of =0.799 and factorⅡhas a internalconsistency of =0.723.The test-retest reliability coefficient ranges from 0.821 to 0.833.TheCh-CSAS shows good face validity, and the content validity is 1.0.structure validity . The factoranalysis of Ch-CSAS resulted in two factors which accounted for 32.92% of the scale’s totalvariances. 3. The attitudes of Fenyang Medicine of Shanxi Medical University and Medicine of DatongUniversity towards communication skills learning were associated with a number ofstudents’general information. After univariate analysis shows that, in PAS (Positive AttitudeScale), for Fenyang students’PAS score are high who resident in the city, attach with theirmothers , assess having good learning environment, have relevant work experience, love thenursing profession, slect nursing because liking nursing. For Datong students’PAS score are highwho resident in the city, love the nursing profession, slect nursing because liking nursing, havelittle school pressure. In NAS (Negative Attitude Scale), for Fenyang students’NSA score arehigh who estrang with her mother , do not love the nursing profession, slect nursing because ofdeployment. For Datong students’NSA score are high who slect nursing for easy finding job.Afer multiple linear regression analysis shows that both Fenyang and Datong students withmore positive attitudes towards communication skills learning tended to loving nursing. ForFenyang students, four variables affect the positive score on the communication skills attitude,namely: the relationship with her mother attachment or a sense of security, students’parents whoare not the medical staff ,students with relevant work experience, students who assess have goodcommunication skills. While, students who have large school pressure have higher negativeattitudes scores. For Datong students, who resident in city have higher positive attitudes scoresand who don’t love nursing have higher negative attitudes scores.Conclusion Ch-CSAS version has good reliability and validity, Suffieient discriminative andevaluative psychometric properties of the Chinese version of CSAS made the instrument suitablefor study on attitudes Chinese nursing students Communication Skills learning. According toconstitute analysis, we found most of the students in two schools communication skills attitude ispositive. This study found that relationship with her mother, parental occupation, relevant workexperience, usual place of residence, whether or not to love the nursing profession, theself-assessment of communication skills, influencing factors may affect the undergraduatenursing students’attitudes to learning communication skills by multiple linear regression andstepwise regression analysis.
