With the amalgamation of the three networks (internet, Community Antenna Television network and the telephone network), the coming of the third generation mobile communication, the development of the micro-electronics technology and the advancement of the new panel display technology, the portable mobile TV develops quickly. Because of many advantages that the Organic Light Emitting Diode(OLED)display possess, such as super-thin thickness, flexible display, wide view-angle, fast response and high efficiency, OLED develops quickly in the medium-sized and pint-sized TV field. So making use of the advantage that FPGA processes fast in the real-time video processing, the research on the medium-sized and pint-sized OLED TV based on FPGA has great meanings and wide application foreground. In this paper, the composite video signal PAL is used as the input signal, ADV7180 as the digital decoder chip, FPGA as the developing tool, the 4.3 inch OLED display module as the display device, the OLED video processing system is investigated and evaluated based on FPGA. The main contents are as follows:1. The PAL format analog signal is converted into the YCbCr format digital signal by the decoder chip ADV7180, and the chip is configured to set the working mode based on the I2 C protocol.2. After analyzing the basic video theories and different kinds of digital video format conversion algorithms in detail, the whole design scheme for the system is worked out and divided into different function modules based on the idea of modularization design.3. The video collection module, I2 C configuration module, de-interlacing module, resolution conversion module, color space conversion module and OLED controller module are designed, described by the verilog language and evaluated by the Modelsim and Quartus software, the simulation results testify that the designs realize their functions accurately.4. The DE270 board produced for multimedia processing by Altera corporation is used to evaluate the system, the evaluation result indicate that the input video source signal displays in the OLED module in the real-time, so the rationality and feasibility of the design are proved.
