An Analysis Of The Three - Stage Evolution Of Network Rumors

In recent years, with the rapid development of the technology of Internet information, rumor spreads not only through interpersonal communication by talking and hearing, but extends to network medium. Compared with the traditional method, spreading information through internet becomes more rapidly and widely. Its main body becomes more closer to common people. It is increasingly difficult to control its process and result, which has a great influence on the harmony and stability of the society and peope’s physical and mental health. According to the network rumors in our Country in the recent decades, we have analyzed and mastered reasons and results of the development of network rumors and absorbed lessons in them. In order to provide a healthy and sound network environment for Internet users, we provide strategies to control Internet rumors according to the three stages of evolution.This paper mainly includes the following content:the introduction elaborates the background and value of this research, and the status and research metods that domestic and foreign scholars have gained about the Internet rumors. The second chapter is about the theoretical basis of the study of Internet rumors,including the definition, classification and characteristics of Internet rumors. It points out that Internet rumors is also a kind of rumor and it has some new characteristics under the network environment. The third chapter discusses about the three stages of the development process of Internet rumors and analyzes the causes of Internt rumors from the subjective and objective aspects. It is concluded that Internet rumors are the common product of various reasons. The key point of the study of this paper is the evaluation process of Internet rumors. The credibility of the Internet rumors can be evaluated in accordance to the source and content of Internet rumors, and the situation and psychological expectations when people receive rumors. It is confirmed that people spread rumors beacause they are willing to believe the rumors are true. The function of "Copy and Paste" greatly ensures the primitiveness of the spreading of rumors in the first place. However, in order to increase people’s trust in rumors, the spread of Internet rumors also undergoes the process of "flattening, outstanding and assimilation". After localization, rumors will become more reliable, when they arrive at some place.The fourth chapter emphasizes the negative effect of Internt rumors. From the aspect of fact, It puts forward several measures to govern Internet rumors. To minimize the negative effect of Internet rumors as low as possible, it needs the transparency and publicity of government information, strict control of media, the third party’s control and improvement of personal media literacy.
