The Research Of Internet Rumors

Rumors are the oldest medium through which news spreads. Rumors are not only universally used, they also change through time. In the modern media environment, these rumors, called internet rumors, utilize mobile phones and the internet to spread with more depth and breadth than ever before.The central focus of this paper is internet rumors which cause significant influence to society. This paper will take some typical internet rumors as examples. The paper will discuss the spreading mechanism of the Internet rumors from different points of view:the communicator and audience of the rumors, the content and communication channels of the rumors, and the means of affecting and controling the rumors.This study accepts that internet rumors are rumors that spread on new media platforms such as the Internet, mobile phones and other technology. Each internet rumor is generated in a certain social context, spreading as to satisfy the general population’s psychological need. Allowing internet rumors to develop will lead to social disorder, compromising the safety of the general public and their property. It is important to control and prevent the spread of the Internet rumors from multiple fronts, including through government, the public and the media.
