With the arrival of the era of knowledge economy, the team driven organization form represents the future trend of development. As one of the most important subjects of learning-oriented organization, team learning has important influence for the learning ability of organization. Facing the dynamic and changeable competition environment, organization with continuous learning and innovation can constantly adapt to internal and external environment, strengthen owncompetitive advantage. In this process, organization not only by communicating with external agencies to get the required funds, technology, talents, information, knowledge, etc, to meet the market demand better, and perfect in market competition; but also hopes to strengthen internal communication and internal knowledge flow to improve learning ability and innovation ability. Therefore, this paper focuses on the relationship between team external social capital and learning ability.In this paper, we study the relevant inside and outside academic research firstly. Then, theoretical hypotheses about team external social capital and learning ability will be formed and the questionnaire will be designed. In order to validate the theoretical hypotheses proposed above in enterprise R&D team, we gather data via 212 questionnaires. Statistics software such as SPSS and AMOS are used to analyze the data. Establish a Structural Equation Model which consists of team external social capital and team learning ability.Hypotheses are proved through the relationship among two varibles.This article divide team external social capital into four dimensions, and divide team learning ability into external learning ability and internal learning ability. Empirical results show that: different dimensions of team external social capital impact on the different abilities of team external learning, team external learning ability influence some abilities of team internal learning, and team external learning ability as an intermediary variable played a brokering role in the relationship between team external social capital and team internal learning ability.According to the characteristics of R&D team, the concepts and structions of team external social capital and learning ability concepts have been re-defined based on the relevant research. At the same time, the paper firstly focuses on the relationship between team external social capital and learning ability, the contribution also lies in establishing a systematic model about them and empirical testing it.The result of this paper not only has a certain amount of innovation, but also has certain guidance and reference value to build high quality team external social capital and improve team learning ability.
