The two driven factors,"Academic exchange"and"Open access", hve been largely promoted the occurance of open repositories. They are used for the storage, obtain, integrate and mining of digital information resources. In the very beginning, they were in the form of the discipline repository which widly use sharing preprint. Then the Institutional Repository(IR) developed to face a particular group of users. Under these circumstances, institutional repositories have been established.As the rapid development of IR, how to use new technology methods to integrate the part limited and overall disordered digital resources, to cluster, merge and scientifically reorganize digital resources which were distributed in heterogeneous systems, to finally form digital resources knowledge integration environment supported by knowledge organization system and to improve the efficiency of dissemination and utilization of digital resources, all these are urgent tasks for information resources management, and also the problems for IR, commercial databases and other digital resources storage carriers needed to solve in the face of the rapid growth of resources.Digital assets management software DSpace, which is developed by Hewlett-Packard and the MIT Laboratory, has experienced a joint development in recent years all around the world. They also face the problem of integration of their digital resources. Just because of this, this paper proposed the IR resource integration based on DSpace.First, this paper illustrates IR and DSpace, show the representative definition of IR, gives an instruction of the function of IR; makes a more systematic introduction to DSpace, including an overview of the project, system architecture and main functions. It also gives an introduction of current situation both demestic and abroad, illustrates the trend of IR.Second, this paper illustrates resources integration of IR based on DSpace. Before this, it introduces the concept of information resources integration in digital library and four commonly used ways of digital resources integration. On the problem of resources integration in IR based on DSpace, this paper divides its resource integration into three parts: IR resource integration within the system, IR integration of resources between the systems, IR and other systems integration of resources. Combined the three parts, this paper then proposes the theory model of resource integration in IR, this model is also provides theory foundation and idea. Besides these, it also gives a brief introduction to the related technologies and standards.Thrid, this paper introduces the construction of IR in Shanghai JiaoTong University and its requirments. Then has a detail illustration on the application of resources integration model in JiaoTong University. According to the model, devides the integration into three parts, and this paper achieved some forms of resources integration.Finally, based on the above achievable IR resource integration system based on DSpace, this paper makes a brief summary and comments on it. Generally speaking, this system is able to achieve the integration of resources, but the system is based on relatively small data, the performance in the face of large data quantities still to be known, there are many system functions needs to be improved, this kind of integration is also confined to the level of digital resources, not up to the knowledge level not be albe to provide more intelligent functions, these are need to be further improved and perfected.The integration of resources in IR based on the theoretical model proposed by this paper has some guiding significance in achieving a certain degree resource integration, and it is also feasible. The integrated resources object characteristic with holistic and organic, constitutes relatively independent, decentralized and heterogeneous resources.They form an organic whole of achieving a variety of sources information integration and restructuring. Integrated digital resources from different disciplines, different areas of digital resources system, covering a wide range, and the system can provide information systematically.
