From the1900’s to the 1940’s, with the rapid development, Shanghai opera became one of Shanghai’s hottest opera from a despised country opera. As the main part of the Opera, Drama can clearly reflect the relationship between the development of opera itself and Shanghai city which is fast and sharply rising in modern times. The drama can well reflect the transformation of society and daily life in Shanghai. At the same time, through the adjustment of the drama, practitioners can broaden the target audience and meet different needs of different people.The development of Shanghai opera’s drama presents apparently a periodic distribution. At the early stage,the drama of Shanghai opera named “Duizi dramas” and “Tongchang dramas”, which are reflect the daily life of the surrounding rural areas of Shanghai. After 1920 s, Shanghai opera gradually absorb the advantages of other Chinese opera, drama and films. Create many new dramas which are called “Tanci dramas” and “fashion dramas”. The types of dramas change reflect the development and progress of the Opera, as well as the development and change of social environment. At the early time, Shanghai opera were popular in country around Shanghai, which determined that the dramas need to reflect the country life. After the artist enter the urban area of Shanghai, it makes new requirements for the Shanghai opera, With the changes of the audience and venues. At the same time, theatrical personage based on their own points create many new dramas as a response to the new demand. Meanwhile, the innovation of dramas attract more audience, which promote the further development of the Opera.It should be noted that, during the development of Shanghai opera’s dramas, urban society of Shanghai had produced important effect on it. It puts forward the external request to the development of Shanghai opera’s dramas of changes about audience and social context. In the meantime, it provides reference and possibility for dramas of the prosperity of the entertainment industry and the intellectuals gathered here. These factors promote the Shanghai opera has become one of the important representative of Shanghai Culture.
