Teform the nationalism is the core of Lu Xun's thoughts. Lu Xun's literature creations, especially the novels, in-depthly disclosed and criticio rzed the reverse side of the Chinese people and thus displayed the non-stop efforts this great thinker of didacticism exerted in pursuing and creating an ideal human nature. In the teaching of Chinese in middle school, we have no reason to neglect to explain and to understand the ideas of Lu Xun to reform the nationalism of the Chinese people. This article is trying to probe in three parts into Lu Xun's thoughts of nationalism and Chinese teaching in middle school.Part one: describing the status on research of Lu Xun's thoughts of reforming the nationalism as well as the position and the significance in the teaching of Chinese in middle school.Part two: discussing the thoughts of nationalism in Lu Xun's novels in middle school Chinese and the ways it expressed. This is the first critical part of the article. There are various and profound thoughts in Lu Xun's novels that require the middle school teachers who are teaching Chinese to fully understand. But his thoughts of nationalism is the main point and the difficult point as well. Almost every fiction of Lu Xun abstracted in the middle school text book from different angles exposes and criticized the weak points of the people's nationalism. And this part mainly analyzes and comments on the roots of "master and servant", the inhospitality and the apartness, disguising and cheating and forgetfulness at various respects.Part three: raising and explaining the several principles for middle school Chinese teachers to abide by in understanding the nationalism of Lu Xun and this is the second critical part of the article. There will be three principles to be discussed in this part.A: principle of systematical understanding; Lu Xun's thoughts to reform the people's nationalism implied in his fictions is systematic and integrated. We should be aware the fact that Lu Xun not only exposed and criticized the weak points of nationalism of Chinese people but also highly praised the merits ofpeople's nationalism at meantime. These two factors are to be combined and never to cut apart. Meanwhile, we shall have to pay much attention to the interconnections and the implied themes among the different fictions adopted in the middle school text book when teaching.B: principle of combination of the history and the contemporary; In teaching the students how to fully understand Lu Xun's thoughts to reform the people's nationalism, you shall have to let the students know the background Lu Xun wrote his novels and think of the present situation the students live in. Meanwhile you will have to lead the students to the fact that history is progressing and human nature is progressing too. And it is the teachers' task to evaluate to what extent you introduce to your students the thoughts of reforming the nationalism.C: principle of praising Lu Xun's personality and cultivating the students' characteristic quality;Lu Xun endeavored to reform nationalism and cultivate the personality of the people in the country in his life. And Lu Xun's spirits and personality are the best model for the nowadays students. His independence, deep thoughts, pursuits to the truth, and self-examinations are all good examples and best teaching materials for the students to cultivate their personality quality.In a word, we should never neglect Lu Xun's thoughts and efforts to reform the nationalism in reading and teaching his novels in middle school.
