An Analysis Of Network Nationalism Events In Social Media

With the rapid development of the Internet and the renewal and iteration of social media,China's network collective events have occurred frequently,and new features have gradually been derived.In early 2016,"The Emperor's Bar to Facebook" as a new type of online nationalism event has aroused widespread concern in the media and academic circles.The patriotic youth with the post-90 s as the main body has become the new main body of the spread of online nationalism,and seeks self-ownership and collective identity through “exploding for the country”.This article takes the case of the "Emperor Bar on Facebook" incident as an example.Through the method of online ethnography and in-depth interviews,it analyzes the construction strategy of online nationalism in social media and the action logic of subcultural groups,trying to understand the changes in the new media environment and online nationalism creating a new analytical framework and perspective for the interaction of online nationalism.The study found that the construction methods of online nationalism in the "Emperor's Expedition" mainly include three parts: discourse construction,identity construction and public opinion construction.While the "expedition" incident had a significant impact,the cyber nationalist action also exposed many issues such as the private use of public resources,follow-up and rumor spread,and irrational injury,threatening the security of cyberspace;it is easy to induce "extreme nationalism" "Tendency",triggering "radical nationalism" sentiment,is not conducive to the cultural identity of our ideology.Therefore,this article reflects on the social motivation and existing problems of "The Emperor's Expedition",attempts to make reasonable suggestions from the government level,the media level and the individual level,and actively guides Internet nationalism on a healthy track.
