There appears to be many excellent local novels in middle school Chinesetextbooks. Prominently they helped a lot to develop students’ aesthetic sense with pureand fresh genre painting and landscape painting which are permeating rich local colorand distinct exotic experiences. Meanwhile, they contain deep thoughts about localculture. They always express the beauty and goodness within humanity, and highlightthe national consciousness and sprit. They actually have the active meaning tostructure national cultural psychology for the middle school students. Therefore, thelocal novels are considered as a research perspectives with great educational values.This paper will have an integrative research on the local novels in the middleschool Chinese. We will begin with the local novels in the middle school textbooks ofmultivariate editions. Then, we will discuss about the richness and complexity withinthem by making a calculation of this option and a rank of this topic. Based on thisevidence, we will explore the main value in local novels, and we will reflect on theteaching practice at the moment as well as its possible shortcomings. Eventually wewill raise strategies and methods to help improve the effectiveness in teaching localnovels.
