Objective:Based on the progress of charge nurses performance appraisal, Probing into the main elements of charge nurses performance appraisal, structuring a set of scientific and systemic indictors system of charge nurses performance appraisal . So as to give useful information for making strategic polices.Subjects and methods:Appling for the review study and theory study, Probe into the base and principles of building up the appraisal indictors system of charge nurses performance; Appling for Delphi method to consult experts on indictors items, weights, indictors intensions coverage etc. After analyzing dependability to experts'consulting suggestions, Set up the indictors system. A small sample test of the index system in a total of 60 charge nurses from three class three hospital in Shanxi was implemented to analyze the quality of the appraisal index system. The Cronbach alpha was used to examine the internal Consistency Reliability of the system. The logical analysis and correlation analysis were used to analyze the content validity of the system.Results:1.Evaluation on representative and dependability of experts'commentsIn our study, the percentage of experts with 20 years professional working experience is 72.4% and that with 30 years is 17.3%. They are higher level professional and representative in their field. The index dependability of their comments is 0.90 due to the expert's familiar with the questions that they were interviewed. The rate of qualified return sheet are 96.7% and 100% in two interview. This shows the result is statistically valuable, while it is suggests the experts support our study . In the return sheets, the experts gave more than 30 constructive comments, again expressed their intentness about this investigation.2.Selection and definition on indexLikert 5-scale method was used to describe the expert's opinion of the importance of the item. The mean of 3.5 and the coefficient of 0.20 were viewd as cut-off point and the items with more than 3.5 and less than 0.20 were selected to further research . Moreover, the weight of items was identified with using the precedence chart. The weight of the first grade including professional attitude and serving character , operation competence, nursing quality control, nurses supervising , ward economy management, nursing continue education and management , nursing scientific research and management were 0.1609,0.1675,0.1806,0.1543,0.1412,0.1353,0.1302 respectively, while the weight of the second grade were identified throught the same methods.3. Test on the appraisal index systemThe Cronbach alpha of the total appraisal index system was 0.8315 and that of each domain in the first grade index ranged from 0.7731 to 0.8671 (>0.70). The Content Validity was proved to be good by logical analysis. The Correlation Coefficient between the total index system and each domain ranged from 0.686 to 0.864. The Correlation Coeffceient between each domain and their items in the second grade index ranged from 0.611 to 0.893 (P<0.05).Conclusions:1.The appraisal system from our study definite 47items, including 7 items of the first grade ,40 items of the second.2. Both rationality and feasibility of the index system were verificated in the study, and the assessment model had better reliability and validity.
