Background: Nursing undergraduates are the main body of nursing higher education. They are the mainstay of clinical nursing, nursing research, nursing education and development of nursing care delivery in the future. The level of information literacy of nursing undergraduates influences the level of private quality and the development of nursing care delivery in China. To implement information literacy education can cultivate the consciousness of independent thinking, independent study and lifetime study of students, encourage students initiatively to acquire, evaluate and utilize various knowledge and information, in order to improve the level of private quality and the ability of research of students. According to the pace of the information age and the variation of nursing model, it has become the main emphasis of research of nursing education on implement nursing information literacy education. To work out effective strategies depends on the investigation of requirements of information literacy of an educated. Therefore,it is necessary for us to study the current status of the information literacy of nursing students for working out strategies on information literacy education, which provides a basis for goal setting and making plan of nursing information literacy education in the future.Objective: To study the content of information literacy evaluation and investigate the current status of the cognition of evidence-based nursing and information literacy in nursing undergraduates. Then according to the investigation results, we draw up a strategy to deal with the information literacy education,to provide a basis for goal setting and making plan of nursing information literacy education in the future.Methods: Firstly, we analyze the domestic and overseas evidence-based nursing and information literacy related documents to decide the content of information literacy evaluation for nursing undergraduates and design a questionnaire upon the cognition of evidence-based nursing. Then combining the foreign understanding training of the meaning information literacy, and consulting ACRL's Information Literacy Competency Standards of Higher Education on operating, designs the information literacy questionnaire of nursing undergraduates, which the experts pass. Finally, carry out an investigation to determine the current status of information literacy of nursing undergraduates in key colleges and universities in Chang Chun, summarize current situation of information literacy of nursing undergraduates according to the investigation result and put forward several suggestions in students' information literacy education.Results: Firstly, the content of information literacy evaluation of nursing students includes information consciousness, information competence and information morality. The three factors of information competence are ability of information searching and acquiring, ability of information analysis and evaluation, and ability of information forming and utilizing. Secondly, current situation of nursing students'information literacy is not optimistic. The major of students are interestedin new things in life and are able to acquire them in much information, but it is very difficult to persist in attention. Nearly half of nursing students do not pay special attention to recently discovered information , so professional information consciousness of nursing undergraduates should be given greater emphasis. In information competence, the information competence education of nursing undergraduates is to be strengthened. Among them,the internet has become an important component of students'daily life and study,which is the tool in communication, information transmission and information acquisition. The professional information resources of nursing students are abundant,but they are not given enough practice in the use of information and information acquisition. They are not familiar to variety professional website, periodicals and CD-ROMs, it is difficult for them to get success in information acquisition, and the ratio of students who write the review and thesis is low. The main factors which restrict information acquiring are lack of introduction about information resources and technical skills and practice. In information morality, the cognition and attitude of intellectual property of nursing undergraduates is ambiguous and information concept of value of students needs to be strengthened. Nursing undergraduates are devoid of moral constraint as consumer. Nursing information environment is not very satisfactory and professional teachers have little sense of responsibilities to train information literacy of nursing undergraduates. At the same time, the students are unsatisfied with nursing information environment and the level of faculties'information literacy. Thirdly, according to the investigation result, we can find out the factors that restrict development of the information literacy of nursing undergraduates are:①Currently teaching philosophy of nursing education is out of date, information literacy education has not been included in the overall quality training system for nursing undergraduates.②Means of instruction and methods of teaching are traditional, there is a weak link in practice teaching, so that the students have few opportunities to practice information searching and using.③The level of nursing professional teachers' information literacy are not high,and they have little ability and sense of responsibilities to train information literacy of nursing undergraduates.④In the College Library, there is a common phenomenon that libraries do not play a main role in students'information literacy education because of lack of information resources and a sense of responsibility of information literacy education. Finally, according to the investigation result,we put forward several opinions in students' information literacy education,including:①Update education philosophy and integrate information literacy training into overall quality education for nursing undergraduates.②Ameliorate the teaching condition to improve information competency of nursing undergraduates.③Change the classics teaching mode, integrate information literacy training into program teaching and establish new teaching mode.④Teachers must play the leading role in all the teaching activities, in order to fulfill information literacy training across the whole range of teaching activities.⑤Improve the environment of information literacy training, under which nursing undergraduates can fully develop information literacy.Conclusion: The content of information literacy evaluation of nursing students includes information consciousness, information competence and information morality. The level of information literacy of nursing students is not high. At the present stage, we carry out information literacy education of nursing undergraduates through changing education philosophy, teaching methods and information environment,including to update education philosophy,to apply Problem Based Learning in nursing education,to improve environment of information literacy training, and to ameliorate students' education in information literacy.
