The 21st century is the century of medical science and life science. The medical science has developed to include biology, psychology and sociology, which promotes a series of reformation in medical field including the reformation of medical education."Life-long Education"has been widely accepted by people and continuing education is one of the most important components of"Life-long Education", and it is important in adult education. The level of continuing education has become an important mark in measuring the advancement of economy, science and education of a country. The continuing medical education plays a key role in updating medical knowledge, improving the knowledge and academic structure of the medical staff and raising their general capacity.Since the publication of"One Regulation"and"Two Measurements", the military continuing medical education has taken it as its aim to get new knowledge, new theory, new methods and new technology, and has taken it as its final outcome to get certain academic scores. Each unit takes the academic scores of the medical staff into the consideration of the professional title promotion and yearly assessment, which leads to a more scientific, systematical and specific development of continuing medical education.At present, the military hospitals always made the judgment of continuing medical education by examining the individuals, there is no perfect inspection, examination and evaluation of the departments'role in continuing medical education. Actually, departments are the basic units to carry out the education for the medical staff. The recognition of the departments on continuing medical education and the major jobs would affect directly the academic atmosphere and the development of technology of clinical therapy.The research sets up a scientific, integrated, feasible and easily-operated evaluation system for the continuing medical education of the departments in military general hospitals with Delphi Method and AHP. The system consists of 3 degrees of index; the first degree includes 3 items, the second 12 items and the third 28 items. It is expected that the system can provide scientific reference for hospital administration and decision making departments so as to further promote the quality and effect of continuing medical education.
