At the present time, the basic nursing quality indicators are usually used for the evaluation of specialized nursing quality in our country, that make the specialized nursing quality evaluation subjective and unfair. In this research, aimed at the object of hospitalized pregnant women before and after delivery and her newborn, we followed the reaserch of basic nursing quality indicators and established the evaluation indicator system for maternity care quality with the purpose to get the quality criteria and reference for improving maternity nursing care.Part I Based on the literature review, a relatively systematic and scientific evaluation indicator system for maternity care quality was established with the methods of clinical interview, experts meeting and Delphi experts consultation. The evaluation indicator system comprises 3 levels, with 3 indicators in level one, 7 indicators in level two and 21 indicators in level three. The statistics analysis for the convergence of experts answers has showed to be highly consistent, which indicates the good credibility of the inquiry results.Part II With the employment of methods of questionnaire, expert consultation, case review and on-spot check, the standard value of indicators was developed, and the maximum, the minimum and the 95% confidence interval(CI) of the variables were used for reference.Part III In this research, the methods of on-spot interview, experts consultation and analysis of other tools abroad was used to design a breastfeeding assessment tool. It assign a numerical score (0, 1, 2) to 10 components of breastfeeding for the possible total score of 20. Meanwhile, we also design and analyze on patient questionnaire, the results show that the reliability and validity of the questionnaires are high.
