Objective: to investigate the status quo of in 39 hospitals of different grades and different character with statistically analytical methods. Some problems and weak points were found after evaluating the status quo of iatrogenic infection management in these hospitals. Some advices and proposals were provided to regulate hospital work and to promote the quality of hospital administration. Thus, we can deal with public health accidents more easily. Methods: All 39 hospitals are among the first ones that were awarded "green hospital" by the Chinese Hospital Management Association. Based on the "infection management criterion in hospital" published by the Ministry of Health in 2000 and other rules and criterions, we designed a survey questionnaire scientifically and comprehensively. All staffs are professionals chosen from some hospitals by Shanxi Hospital Management Association. This time, we combined questionnaire filling-out and spot check together and made a whole and true survey. Results: 12832 beds and 85 professionals of all 39 hospitals were investigated, departments of iatrogenic infection management have been set up in the hospitals with over 300 beds, over two thirds hospitals, professionals have joined management of medicine, medical records, and dispensable stuffs. They also gave some consultations on hospital construction and reconstruction to hospital administrators. Most hospitals have already launched the monitoring of environment hygienics, disinfection effect, and iatrogenic infection cases. Of course, there are still some works not done well such as related monitoring and medical rubbish management. In addition, incinerator certification rate of some hospitals was lower. Conclusion: ① there is a professional team working on hospital infection management. It is a routine to train the staffs.but their specialized knowledge should be improved . ② infection management became part of hospital management, but the co-ordination ability of professional should be improved. ③ we have just started the monitoring system, but the way should be regulated ..④ the sense of professional risk and protection of hospital staffs should be improved.⑤medical rubbish should be handled comprehensively including classification, packaging, collection, and deposition.
